Kate Lanphear

She always looks hot! Why can't I be this cool? I love her cut.

If you follow Scott's site, and mine b/c I put a pic of her up before, you would see that this women loves color! Plus she does it so well. I think red is her favorite color.

Christian Siriano For Payless

From The Cut.

Last December, Christian Siriano announced plans to debut an accessories line for Payless at Fashion Week. Well, rejoice, the wait is over. The designer premiered his line of Egyptian-inspired footwear (and some bags) at his show last night, full of spikes, chains, and cone heels. His color choices: Deep brown in matte leather (or probably pleather), patent chocolate, gold triangle heels, and aqua satin featuring a print that resembled hieroglyphics. We're torn — on one hand, we love that these will only cost $25 to $45 when they hit stores this fall. But on the other, we're weary that the footwear looks similar to Rodarte's a couple seasons ago. So you make the call ... would you buy them?

I honestly wish they came in other colors.

Hello Kitty for MAC

I love the Hello Kitty for MAC collection, but this makes no sense.

No Oscar Fashion Recap

I was underwhelmed with the clothes. Such a pity.
Update: I sat on the fence with this dress, but I decided I liked Marisa Tomei's Versace dress.

Two Nights Ago A DJ Saved My Life

So if you didn't know already, I graduate from college in May, but I am done with my classes. That is why I started grad school early. I have goals, dreams, and aspirations, so I don't mess around. Anywho! My senior class won Follies Friday night. That is the skit competition that all the classes get to compete in. We always win the flag football game, Ludy Bowl, but we have never won Follies until Friday night. We were so happy.

That night my friends who promised to go out with me to MY party if I went to the Pretty/Nasty party with bailed out. They are whack anyway. All I have to say is if they invite me somewhere, I am going to tell them I'm busy. It is OK though because, as usual, Ruhamah went with me. We also got her roommate Chaquita to go with us.

My friend Chaz's other musical endeavor, Toro y Moi, performed and it was hot. Then they had some DJs rocking out the hottest dance tunes, so my friends and I could dance the night away. I mean you know it had to be good if little old me, who doesn't like to dance, danced the night away. HAH HAH! The DJs saved my life. LOL

Then we have an impromptu photo shoot outside New Brookland Tavern, and went to Waffle House. Our waitress was so slack. She didn't know that the WH secruity guard worked there. She messed up everyone's orders by not giving us our food or putting Ruhamah's toast on my plate. She was slack, but it was a fun night.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9-The Finale

Well it is the end of New York Fashion Week. Off to London, Milan, and gay Paris! If I actually had to work the shows, I would not have the foggiest idea on how to keep my stress levels down, my wardrobe intact, my plane tickets together, my hotel arrangements together, my travel foreign language phrase books together, and all my foreign currency. Oh My! Not to mention my computer, notebooks, cameras, and the European plugs for all my technology. I am a very organized person, so I am sure my OCD self would figure it all out.

Anywho! Christian Siriano showed last night, and I thought that he brought us all a pleasant little surprise with the collection. Yes he showed his signature ruffles, but they weren't all over the place. His collection was fantastic. It featured different shades of browns and some teal, aquamarine-ish color in there. It was a very realistic collection this time also. It seemed like he toned down the theatrics to bring us something everybody can wear. Overall, FABULOUS. Here are some pictures from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Proenza Schouler started off with a very menswear inspired collection, but then towards the end you started to see shiny silks and satins in golds, blacks, blues, and purples. Then out of nowhere came the silk devore. I'm in love. Do I think this was a good collection? Yes. Do I think it was cohesive? Not so much. Photos from style.com.

I Changed My Layout

YAY!

Grad School Update

So I am now into my fourth week of Grad School. Yay! I can't believe I am actually in grad school, but I am. For those of you who don't know, I am doing the Masters in Fine Arts program in Fashion Merchandising at the Academy of Art University. I am taking Dynamics of Fashion, Fashion Marketing, and some Textile class that I hate. So far everything is good. It is a whole lot easier than I imagined, and I am doing well in my classes. Maybe I am speaking too soon. Maybe I am just taking easy classes. Who knows? Oh well I will keep you up to date as things happen, change, or move along.

I saw this in Elle this month, and I thought it was appropriate for the month of February. I love Josephine Baker, and I think it is so neat that she still influences people today.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

Can I just say that after that glorious Marc Jacobs show the other day and that amazing Rodarte collection last year, I really was expecting more from Marc by Marc Jacobs and Rodarte. I am not even putting pictures up because I was so not amused with the collections.

Halston, on the other hand, was marvelous. I could see myself wearing everything that they showed, especially those blue harem pants. The leather was amazing and the silhouettes were flattering . I could see me and my mom wearing the sweater dresses. The color schemes for this collection were so amazing for the fall. Just like Marc Jacobs, this collection featured some not so recession like colors. It had blues, reds, and yellows. I loved it. I can't wait for the fall.

This Is Too Cute!!!!!!

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

Photos from Style.com

Thakoon and Marc Jacobs were amazing. They were both very colorful and structural. Thakoon had the tight 80s mini dresses that everyone is doing now and Babooska looking hats. Marc Jacobs Fall collection looked like Easter Eggs. I love it. Finally someone who isn't afraid of the dreaded recession.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

I thought the Hervé Léger by Max Azria was interesting because they finally veered away from the collections that had been so over and done with. They also recopied what Balmain and Alexander Wang copied from them if that makes sense. Anywho, I liked it.

Victoria Beckham's fall collection was surprisingly good, but really, should we actually be surprised?

Erin Fetherston collection looked like something out of a Alice in Wonderland ballet. I don't know who would wear this on a regular basis, but it was still cute.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

Both Lela Rose and Boy by Band of Outsiders had clothes that I think are very wearable for the average women. Lela Rose was very colorful for fall, and Boy was very preppy and they had shoes by Manolo Blahnik. Photos from Style.com.

Alexander Wang A/W 09

Photos from Style.com

This collections was very interesting. It had some interesting cut out dresses, biker shorts and capris ,fur, leather, and a whole bunch of elements that molded together. At first I didn't like it,but I guess it grew on me.

The Sartorialist

I really like this outfit on The Sartorialist today. It is so cute for a day like today. Anyway, doesn't she kinda look like the Octo-Mom.

Anyway I refuse to put a pic up of her because she is just too weird.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

Abaeté had a real soft, neutral palette. Maybe the recession is to blame for the lack of color,or maybe the fact that it is a fall season collection explains the lack of color. I still liked it anyway.

Bibhu Mohapatra was a name I hadn't heard before. I don't even know where to start as far as pronunciation goes, but I liked his collection. The colors were rich and full, and the fabrics were amazing. Apparently this is his debut. I want to see more of his work. GOOD LUCK!

Christian Cota said his collection was based on upheavals in beauty and nature. I believe it. His collection was an explosions of sparkles, bursts of leather, and fabric shaped like it was exploding off of the models. I loved these clothes because they were fun and beautiful at the same time.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2k9!

Jason Wu, of Michelle Obama inauguration dress fame, showed a beautiful collection full of bright colors and flattering shapes. Check out more pics here at Jezebel.

I was going to write about BCBG, but I was bored with it. You find it here.

I didn't really like the Charlotte Ronson show either. I did manage to like one or two dresses but I felt like I had seen them before somewhere.I found them on RackedNY.

Sorry if I don't really show pictures of ones that I don't like.

I went to Style.com and found some more great shows.

Peter Som was very colorful for a fall show but I still liked it.

Monique Lhuillier was very gothic, but at least it looked fall like.

The Gossip On Beth Ditto

This just in from England via Catwalk Queen:

OMFG! So it's no secret that Beth Ditto was hand-picked by Katie Grand to be LOVE magazine's first cover girl, but we had no idea that she was going to bare all for the job. The sensational Gossip singer has stripped off a second time to launch the debut issue of LOVE (the last time was for NME in 2007). Advanced copies are set to hit Dover Street Market and Harvey Nichols from Saturday now instead of today because apparently they are still being printed. Although if you're in the area, it's worth a look.

Valentine's Day Outfit

I don't really like Feb. 14th, but here are some cute Valentine's Day outfits via moi et Polyvore.

New York Fashion Week Has Begun!

I am so excited. I can't wait to see what everyone has produced this season.

The people at fashionista.com seem to think that Rachel Roy looks like YSL from Spr 08, but I liked it. I looked like some of my mom's old pictures from the 70s and 80s. She used to have the bowl cut. So chic.

Can I say that I loved Jillian Lewis on Project Runway, but I didn't like her fall collection at all. It was a bit too much for me. She said it was inspired by graffiti.

Flash Mobs

Flash Mobs.....I really want to be involved in one. I think they are really neat and freak people out in a good way. I only like being spontaneous when I feel like it. I am not one of those people that needs to be spontaneous all the time, but I do think my home town needs a little flash mobbery in its life. Here is a video of a T-mobile commerical and some links on flash mobs.

Can't Wait To GO to This!!!

I'm so geeked out right now. My friend Chaz Bundick aka Toro y Moi will be playing at the WUSC Dance Party. I missed the last because I was so busy. The pictures from the event looked so much fun. Anyway here is a poster I got from Chaz's blog.

I Am Sick!

I am sick! I feel like a machete is chopping away at burning wood in my throat. So to make myself feel good, I am watching Absolutely Fabulous and French and Saunders on YouTube.

Bad Bish

Found this on Catwalk Queen. Look at DVF on the cover of Purple magazine. I want legs like that at that age. I have work to do.

I Love These Shoes!

So if you haven't heard, it's BOGO time at Payless. YAY! I love their shoes, especially their designer lines. The abete shoes are so trendy right now, but what I really like is the alice+olivia platform slingback bootie. It too cute. Plus I love platform shoes. Go check it out here.

How Did I Miss This?!?!?!

I was on Go Fug Yourself and saw this....
Her name is Maiysha, and I don't know if I love it,hate it, or love it and hate it at the same time.

The Worst of Grammy Fashion

Photos from Style.com

Paula Abdul looked a hot mess in Basil Soda.

Jordin Sparks wore Debra Davenport. She is too big for this dress. As a plus sized woman myself, I know that there are certain things that I shouldn't wear. Patterns is on the top of the list.

LeAnn Rimes looked washed out and flat in Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. Did she do her own hair?

Estelle was about to beam herself up to outer space in Bernard Chandran.

Zooey Deschanel wore Luella. I guess black doesn't go with everything.

Nicole Kidman, who wore L'Wren Scott, needs to stay away from the shiny gold fabric. She always wears the same dress now.

Gwyneth Paltrow was cute in Versace. I just don't think the outfit was appropriate for her age.

The Best of Grammy Fashion

Photos from Style.com

Jennifer Hudson wore in RM by Roland Mouret and Christian Louboutin shoes. At first I didn't like the shoes, but they have grown on me.

MIA wore Manish Arora and Gola by Christian Lacroix sneakers. I really want those sneakers.

Adele wore Barbara Tfank. The coat really compliments her hair color and pale skin.

Taylor Swift looked very mature in Kaufman Franco.

Katy Perry looked a dream in in Basil Soda.

Sara Bareilles looked like a 1950s dream in Luisa Beccaria.

Whitney Houston wore Zuhair Murad. This is the best she has looked in years.
