The Original M.I.A.

Neneh Cherry is the original M.I.A. She caused a stir by rapping onstage while preggers way before M.I.A. did it. I remember when the song "Buffalo Stance" first came out, and I was singing about gigolos like I, a toddler, knew what a gigolo was. This song is still awesome now. If you don't remember her, then you may remember her brother Eagle Eye Cherry and his song "Save Tonight." Photo from NPG.

What Is Really Going On Here?

Beyonce's new "I'm hanging out and trying to seem laid back" look is not working for me at all. Something is so very wrong with this picture. Yay or Nay? Photo from the YBF.

It Came To Me In A Dream

Seriously I dreamed this outfit and made it on Polyvore.

My Love/Hate Relationship With Rhianna Maybe Over

Kanye West "Paranoid" feat Rhianna as some eye candy. I feel like she is finally being herself instead of pretending to be someone she isn't, or maybe she just learned how to be a good actress.
UPDATE:I had to change the video because they removed it. Hopefully this one works.

Help Me I'm Confused Again

All photos from AA.
Questions to my readers # 1, 2,&3:
Are the 90s back and the 80s are over, or are the 80s and 90s competing for fashion trend of the moment or are the 80s still here and the 90s are over?

Questions to my readers# 4 & 5:
What is the purpose of this? No panty lines?

I Can't Stop Thinking About Lanvin

Magazine: 10
Issue: Spring 2009
Model: Giedre
Photographer: Cedric Buchet
Photos from Foto Decadent

I am really inspired by this editorial from 10 Magazine. Alber Elbaz really designs beautiful, bright, colorful clothing for Lanvin. These pictures are great, but I hope you all go to Style.com. Seeing them on the runway is just beautiful. I still like this editorial because it is so dramatic. I picked the best shots to show you all.

I Am Disappointed Yet Again

I am so disappointed with Target's Pure Energy line. It was supposed to be a plus size contemporary line, but there is nothing contemporary about it. Everything looks like old hippie wear. I love hippies, but Mama Cass wouldn't even wear this stuff.

The dresses, the tops, just about everything is horrendous, and the line doesn't even fit the models well. How are you going to sell something when the models look bad? The patterns and prints are terrible. They aren't even flattering. Some of the tank tops make you look preggers.

I used to want to major in medieval art and history, so I tend to love all things medieval. Unfortunately for me, when I look at some of the clothes Target made for this collection, I suddenly get the urge to sing "Are you going to Scarborough Fair?"

I am so sad because I only like two pieces from the collection. I guess that means I can save my money for something better. I wish I had the money to come up with my own plus size store because I promise it would be way better than this.

Paper Heart

Someone take me to go see this movie. PLEASE! Paper heart is supposed to come out in August. I am letting you all know in advance. It stars Charlene Yi and Michael Cera, who I think are a real life couple. I am still not sure if this is a documentary, movie, whatever. I feel like I can relate to Charlene in many ways. Anyway this is a total geek movie, and since I am a total geek, I am putting this on my movies to see list.

Elizabeth and James Shoes

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's Elizabeth and James line now has shoes. I really like these shoes because they are shoes that I could see myself wearing. The Stock Flat is a shoe I could see myself wearing everyday with some jeans and a crisp white shirt. I love loafers because they go with a lot of the clothes that I own, and the pony hair gives it an exotic look. The Edge Gladiator Sandal is another shoe I could see myself wearing everyday one of the floral dresses I just bought. The Haley Wedge isn't a shoe I would wear everyday, but I really like the shape, color of the leather, and texture of the wedge heel. This is another shoe I would wear with jeans and a crisp white shirt. The Haley Wedge also looks comfortable. I can see a little bit of padding in there. The only thing I don't like about the shoes is the price. They are sadly not in my budget. Photo from Who What Wear.

Chanel Iman does it again in her debut cover of Harper's Bazaar Dubai.

I've Got An Etsy Crush!

I have an Etsy crush on SarahSeven's clothes. They are too cute, and the presentation/photography is nice too. They range in price from $100- $500. I could see myself wearing these dresses and skirts to work, a party, or both. This is her blog Beaus and Arrows.

I Have A Delimma

I am looking for a job/internship as you all know. Well I spent 2 hours doing a Walgreens pharmacy application, I tried to do one for the Gap/Old Navy and their computer system didn't like me. Now I am about to try and apply to this store called Handpicked and Target. I am so pissed with this current job environment.

Get Halle's Look For Less

Now you can get Halle Berry's look for less. Here is the original post on the dress. She is wearing a Herve Leroux dress. Herve Leroux is the same man as Herve Leger. He changed his name and sold his line to BCBG because the fame, generated from his bandage dresses, got a little too intense, but he is still making bandage dresses soooo...

Anyway, his dresses usually costs about $4000, but you can get a much cheaper version from our favorite sleazy dress store, American Apparel. This dress costs $46.00. Photos from YBF and American Apparel.

I Need To Get Thee To A H & M

I saw the H & M fall collection today on Nitrolicious. It is so fab. I see a little Dolce and Gabbana in there, some Rodarte, and a little of everything. There are going to be some fierce fashionistas on the street come Fall. Photos from Nitrolicious.

AB FAB USA Is Done!

Praise him on high! I could smell a disaster from just looking at the pics. You shouldn't mess with the original unless you can make it great, like Star Trek. That was awesome. Nikki Finke says that Fox has cancelled the show before it started. It looked like a tragedy from the start.

Here is a clip from the original:

Finally Done!

I am finally done with my first semester of grad school. I finished my projects and my exams. I learned so much about fashion. I designed a couple of collections by drawing flats, I made yet another marketing plan, and I took a textiles class which I hated. My friend told me that everyone hates textile class, so I am OK with that.

I also had a massage today at the Urban Nirvana Spa to take away my stress. I am so excited to be done, but I am very anxious to see my grades. I think I did pretty well. :) Now am I looking for internships and trying to plan a trip to Boston. If anybody knows any good places to stay or go in Boston please tell me .

UPDATE: Just so everyone knows, I am still interning with Stylehop.com. I love Stylehop.com, but I am an overachiever and would like to have another one during the summer. I am always looking for things to add to my resume and build experience from. I could work at a store, work with a stylist, do pr work, or anything else fashion related. I am just hungry for more experience. lol :)

La Roux

I am so excited about this new singer. La Roux and her signature haircut are amazing. I wonder how much product does she have to use each day. Her music and music videos are so 80s-tastic its crazy. I said on twitter the other day that the 80s caught the flu and has been throwing up every since 2005 but I am totally ok with that because I love the 80s. I guess that is why I like La Roux so much.
Here is a polyvore I did based on her look:

Here is her newest video for , what I think is her 3rd single, "Bulletproof":

Here is her second single "In For the Kill":

Here is her first single "Quicksand":

Sugar Panda

My friend Valerie from high school makes lovely items on her Etsy shop. You can also see said items on her blog page here. Valerie has several Etsy shops and websites because she has more than one line. She is doing a giveaway that ends Monday night on her Sugar Panda blog. You can win this handmade bookmark.
I think you guys should look around her Etsy shops because her jewelry and other items are very cheap. I see a few things that I want, and they are all under $8.

Happy Mother's Day

Sorry this is a day late, but um yeah I was in the country with no internet service. Here a pic I took of my mom and grandma with my new Nikon D60 that mom got me for graduation. Thanks mom!

Glamour magazine wants to know how you define "plus size"

I got this from Curvy Lifestyles.

I think this should be interesting. I already sent my answer in.

Attention Plus Size & Curvy ladies,

If your familiar with my blog, you know I'm not really the greatest fan of the word "fat". I look at it as negative and why would I want to say negative words to myself or other fabulous plus size & curvy women? Different women, however, have different ways of perceiving and expressing themselves on how they define their curvy bodies. How would you like the opportunity to voice your opinion on the matter?

The other day I received an email from Michelle Weston of SellingStyle,Inc that I'd love to share with you. I've included the message below:

Subject: Women size 12+ for Glamour story (no, we won’t print your size!) (please forward)
So I’m looking for ladies to help us redefine what “plus-size” means for the September issue of Glamour. If you’re between the ages of 18 and 34 and a size 12 or larger (what the industry considers plus-size), I want to hear what you call yourself. Are you “Thick and Juicy”? “Real-sized” “Sexy and Shapely?” “Simply Beautiful?” “Normal?”
Got a great redefinition of plus-size to share? Shoot me an email with the following:

Full Name:
Age:
City and State:
Your Size (just for research, we won’t print):
What
you call “plus-size”:
Why do you call yourself that?:
What do you think about size 12 being the benchmark for plus-size?:

If you would like to send in your responses (I'd say even if your over 34, fabulosity knows no age!!) please send your answers and any questions to:

On A Serious Note...

Yuka from Pretty in Leather asked why Tori Amos seemed angry all the time, and I replied on her blog and in the comments section that she is angry in a lot of her songs because she suffered 3 miscarriages and 1 rape that left her scarred and significantly influenced her music.

It got me thinking about how rape touches so many people's lives. I had a friend in college who was raped one night and found alive (thank goodness) in a parking lot downtown. Some people don't even know how to deal with it, so I decided to give you all some information to either help yourself or friend or family member.

Tori Amos started a foundation called RAINN, which stands for rape, abuse, and incest national network. They have a website here. They also have the National Sexual Assault Hotline which you can access online here or at this number 1.800.656.HOPE. If someone you know or if you personally need help, please get it. This organization is confidential.

Here is her song about the night of her rape "Me and a Gun", except that night her rapist had a knife. It is a really intense song, do not click play unless you think you will be able to handle it.

I Love Me Some Tori

I remember when I saw Tori Amos live in the 6th grade. She needs to come back down to my neck of the woods. Here she is with a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

I Don't Know What To Make Of This

I totally don't know what to make of these shoes. I like them. I hate them. I just don't know. I had some Dr. Scholl's shoes like these in the 4th grade. This brand is called Swedish Hasbeens ,and they have been on every website and in every magazine for the past few months. I am absolutely puzzled by the fascination with these clogs? Do any of you have a clue? Photo from Swedish Hasbeens.

Style Scout

My internship, Stylehop.com, has a blog called Style Scout. It is so awesome! They used my infamous Forever 21 quote in this very interesting article called, Fashion Promoting Obesity?

Don't forget to check out the small debate in the comment section. You all should comment too. This is a real interesting topic. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I totally think I should have cute plus size clothes regardless if you think I am fat by choice or not.

So That Is What She Had On Under That Thing

AHHHH!!!!

I Miss This...

I have been following fashion since before I could talk. Seriously. I miss this so much. If the model is muse, why are we still withholding her from being the fabulous creative force she is. The model can still show the clothes and have a fierce personality. Ahhh the Supers: Linda, Cindy, Helena, Naomi, Claudia, Tatjana and Karen! Photos from TFS.
