A few weeks ago I went to Walmart. While I was there, with the sincere intention of only buying one item, I saw this three pack of Black Radiance mascara for almost $5. It was steal, so I had to buy it. Duh! The first mascara I tried was the Body Building Mascara. It regularly retails for $2.99 by itself at your local Walmart, Rite-aid, or other beauty/drugstore that sells Black Radiance, and I fell in lurve with it!
Elie Saab, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier showed either preciously pastel or rowdy rock and roll inspired collections. Elie Saab showed dainty pastels that would be perfect for the upcoming Oscars. Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri created flowery printed gowns perfect for the girlest girly girl. Jean Paul Gaultier’s new couture collection was inspired by Amy Winehouse, so you know it is perfect for any beehived diva! I am really enjoying the couture gowns this season. They are so beautiful! Yesterday’s couture shows proved that embellishments are in. From crocodile skins to shiny fabrics and ombre colors, there is nothing plain about these clothes. Karl Lagerfeld used every single shade of blue imaginable. Richardo Tisci used reptile skins in the craziest ways. Giorgio Armani’s fabric shined through a dark runway set. I can see a lot of ready to wear trends in this week’s couture shows. I wonder what the designers are going to show next. Photos from Style.com.
Spring 2012 Couture Fashion Week is going on right now in Paris, France. The menswear shows have just finished, and in a few weeks the hoopla of fashion week will start all over again. Aren’t you excited?!?! I am!
Donatella designed a Versace collection that looked like a 60s lacy space gladiator. The colors went from a lavender grey to neon green. This collection was great considering this was the first couture collection they had done in quite a few years.
I don’t know if you have noticed me talking about my new Facebook Page and Google Plus page for the blog, but I have been trying to get followers over there because Google Friend Connect is going away for those blogs not on Blogger. Since this is a WordPress blog, I am going to have to discontinue the use of the widget on my blog. I would have totally forgotten to write this post, if it hadn’t been for two of the blogs I follow reminding me.
Year Of The Dragon: $65 Swiss fashion watch and jewelery maker Swatch takes great pleasure in celebrating the Chinese New Year. Coming up soon (starting January 23rd, 2012) is the Year of the Dragon, one of the most lively and colorful signs of the Chinese animal zodiac, and is the key symbol of Chinese Spirit. The Year of the Dragon watch features an intricate and graceful Chinese dragon, drawn in blue on the white ground of the silicone strap, taking inspiration from classic Chinese-style blue and white porcelain. The dial complements the dragon with a delicate ornamental blue grid drawn on a white background. A blue dragon appears on the special packaging, too, ready to bring good fortune to everyone in the year ahead.
These were the not so great. Not much else to say except…ehhh! The worst were Sarah Michelle Geller in Monique Lhuillier, Nicole Richie in Julien Macdonald, and Piper Peraboo and Amanda Peet in I can’t remember who. Photos from Wikifashion.
These are the ladies I thought dressed the best at the Golden Globes. I enjoyed watching Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann, Selma Hayak in Gucci, Sofia Vergarra in Vera Wang, and Charlize Theron in Dior. They took risks and looked amazing! Photos from Wikifashion.
The Hills and The City alum Whitney Port will show at New York Fashion Week again this February. The line, Whitney Eve, which started in 2008 has always either bored the critics, or wowed them for looking like something Whitney Port would wear herself. “My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show,” Port said. I wonder if she will wow or bore the critics this time too. The show will be produced by Port’s old company People’s Revolution. Photo from here. (more…)
I don’t know if you all are following the lady wedge sneaker trend that has exploded, but if you have these might be a cheaper choice. The Isabel Marant sneakers are cray cute, but crazy expensive. While these Bea Suede Wedge Sneakers from Ash come in at $250, they still are considerably cheaper than than the others. Photo from here.
OK!!! I know this is going to be hard for some people, but these are some things to stop doing, not just in the new year, but FOREVER!!! I try to run a body positive site for women of all sizes. I also try to run a pretty body positive life, meaning even though I fail at this sometimes due to being human, I really try not to judge people for their bodies however big or small they may be. I am going to encourage you all to do the same this year.
