Graphic blazers were a really hot trend this spring, but you can carry that trend into fall as well. Graphic blazers are the new conversation piece. They also look great on everybody, so don’t say you can’t wear one because of your size or because they are just so busy! Busy print action can still look good. If you are uncomfortable with this trend, try to offset the prints with a solid bottom. Think a skirt or pants in a contrasting color. Try one out today.

Affordable Super Chunky Necklaces

ASOS, Topshop, and Forever 21 have some really affordable options for the chunky necklace trend. Editors and bloggers have been seen pairing these types of necklaces with collared button down shirts and even not so basic tees. I am not a big jewelry wearer, but when I do wear jewelry these are the types of necklaces I wear. I really love wearing them with my dresses because they can act as a statement piece. Luxury Lust- Ted Baker Nexaa Full Skirted Coat

Luxury Lust
Ted Baker Nexaa Full Skirted Coat
Now that it is almost August, I am in the mood for fall clothing. It is still hot, but I love shopping for the fall. Pre-Fall clothes are already popping up in stores, so why can’t I look? The Nexaa Full Skirted Coat by Ted Baker is really cute, and is something that has been on trend for a few seasons now. I love how it gives women shape and looks sharp at the same time. This particular coat is $356 at House of Fraser.

I’m In Love With Mirrored Furniture

Mirrored Vanity Table and Mirrored Chair

I am in love with mirrored furniture. When I think of mirrored furniture, I think of Art Deco, old Hollywood screen goddesses, and Paris. I think of sitting down to one of these mirrored vanity tables in a silk robe or kimono and putting powder on with a giant powder puff. Maybe I am putting on bloody rouge lipstick? While perusing Pinterest, I saw this mirrored vanity table and vanity seat from Horchow. You can really waste a good amount of time pinning things and looking at other pictures. I don’t care though. Where else can I get wedding, food, home, baby, etc, etc inspiration from all in one neatly organized little place? Photo from Horchow.

A. Z. Araujo MBFW SWIM 2013

Yesterday was the finale for MBFW SWIM 2013. One of the collections that showed yesterday was A. Z. Araujo. The beautiful tropical inspired collection had something for men and women. While the collection was full of prints-a major runway trend- the men’s collection featured speedos and teeny tiny shorts. The women’s collection covered up a little more, but not much with skimpy bikinis and cut-outs. Thanks Josh for helping me cover MBFW SWIM 2013. I couldn’t have done it without you!

How To Dress Well- “Cold Nights”

I am really digging this song called “Cold Nights” from How To Dress Well. It has an old school R&B feel to it with a little bit of that lo-fi music movement blended in one. The ghostly voice and melody and haunting. Now if only I could understand the words!

The Not So Basic Tee

I love basic tees, but there is really something special about a t-shirt that has a cut-out, is cropped, hangs off the side, or dips in the back that speaks to me. Those are the not so basic tees, and every girl should have one! You can wear them just about anywhere with just about anything. Try them with jeans and leggings, short or long skirts, and underneath blazers and vests. These tees from ASOS are perfect! Click on them for more information.

Beauty Bit- How to Clean the Hair Under Your Weave

A lot of women wear weaves and extensions, and a lot of them know how to deep condition the hair once a week. But how many of you weave wearing sistas know how to wash the hair braided under your extensions. There are a lot of confusing/convoluted ways to do this, but I finally found a YouTube video that shows an extremely plain and simply way to cleanse the hair under your weave. All she does is scrub the dry shampoo on her braids with a towel and blow dries for extra penetration. It is so easy peasy.

Red Carter MBFW SWIM 2013

The Red Carter show was gorgeous! I wish I could have been there in person, but Josh is really helping me out with these visuals! The Red Carter swimwear gave me Brazil and Rio de Jeneiro Carnival! The line looked fun and exciting. There weren’t any bland moments. I also loved the prints and the use of yellows, golds, reds, and oranges. Those colors look great on every skin tone. This show had some great monokinis as well. I guess I really need to jump on this trend.

L*SPACE MBFW SWIM 2013

The L*SPACE show was another great MBFW SWIM 2013 show. There was a swimsuit and dress that looked like they had some piping on them which was really interesting. I liked that look a lot because I haven’t seen that on many swimsuits recently. The coverups and maxi dresses were really cute too. I like how some of the swimsuits and dresses had prints on them. I also noticed that the color orange was used again, so look out for orange swimsuits next year. My favorite part of the collection were the high waisted bikini briefs. I love a good old retro bikini. High waisted bikinis are great because you can wear a bikini and get a little more coverage… just like a monokini. I have been seeing a lot of high waisted bikinis the past few seasons, especially this summer. This might be a trend you’ll want to try before the summer is done!

Aqua di Lara at MBFW SWIM 2013

The Aqua di Lara show was a really cute show. I liked that the designer incorporated geometric color blocking and strategic cut outs in her swimwear. I am seeing a lot of monokinis in the shows. One of my best friends loves monokinis. They have all the sexiness of bikini, but they cover up like a one-piece. These monokinis from Aqua di Lara have great cut outs in the front and back. The geometric color blocking designs show on the front. I’m in love.

MBFW SWIM 2013- Lisa Blue

I am so lucky to have my friend stylist extraordinaire Josh Ratliff cover MBFW Swim 2013 for me. Last night he sent me a few clips from the Lisa Blue show. The swimwear was so gorgeous, and the show was fantastic. It was full of salsa dancers, surfboards, and crazy head dresses. I love the cut of the swim bottoms. They showed just enough skin to be extra sexy, but they weren’t over the top skimpy. Some gals want sex appeal with coverage. One of my favorite swimsuits was a white and gold Grecian Goddess looking one piece with flowing sleeves. I wish I could be in Miami right now!
