I have stylish relationship goals. I promise you I’m not vain, however I want the ability to have my future beau and I look effortlessly cool. I don’t want to look like we try to hard, because when it comes to getting dressed everyday…I really don’t try that hard. When I look at this picture of style icons Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, I just see cool. My future beau and I may never be that cool. That is a-ok, but…we can try.
I wish I was near Atlanta. Plus size store Ashley Stewart is having a #LOVEYOURCURVES tour featuring Marie Denee from The Curvy Fashionista and more special guests. They are also giving away two scholarships. Great right? Yea it is. You better get yourself together, call your friends and head out to Ashley Stewart’s #LOVEYOURCURVES tour.

Solange got married and #broketheinternet. She had the wedding of my wildest dreams. I always said that if I got married I would want to do my own thing. I am not the ype to worry about social norms. Solange showed me that yes I can do whatever I want to do, why… because it is my day. Thanks for the inspiration Solange and congrats of your wedding! Photo from Vogue.
So I have fallen in love with the music group the Years & Years from England. The lead singer’s name is Olly, and he is also an actor in the UK. He has an interesting voice that has this soulfulness to it. I have really gotten into their music the past few weeks. (more…)
It is no secret that I love Lupita Nyong’o. I have written about her many a time on this blog. It has been quite awhile since I have put a picture or post up about her though. This month you can see her in Glamour Magazine, since she is their Woman of the Year. The pictures are really great. There is this one blue dress that I really love on her.
Tkay Maidza, the awesome18 year old Zimbabwean-Australian rapper from Adelaide, is taking the world by storm. If you are tired of listening to other Australian rappers cough, cough try listing to her mixtape aptly named Switch Tape. Her song “U-huh”, seen in the video above, is a really hot and catchy song that will have you grooving and moving into the weekend. Check out this song and the mixtape and thank me later. Check out Tkay Maidza’s Switch Tape mixtape below. (more…)
This week I bring you the new video from Arca for his song “Thievery.” So I am dropping the video below the cut just because it is NSFW. The song comes from his soon to be released album “Zen.” If you aren’t sure of who he is, he recently produced songs for Kanye West. I also just heard about two weeks ago that he is producing some songs on Bjork’s new album. SO EXCITING!!
Do you see Nicki Minaj for L’Uomo Vogue? The hit rapper is on the cover of the October issue, and despite the cigarette everything looks great. I love these wigs/haircuts on her. They are a little different for her, but they also looks very chic on her and frame her face. (more…)
I am in the middle of a very busy finals week, so I think I deserve a dance break. Here is the new video from French pop star Yelle. Her new song is called Complètement fou. Watch her dance around glitter popcorn, try to duck walk with some voguers, and straddle a giant piece of corn. Enjoy!
Look at Beyonce. Look at her. Beyonce is giving me fall wardrobe inspiration in one photo. I love the long boyfriend coat, the black jeans, and the heels. I am looking for the perfect pair of black heels for the fall. Hopefully I can find them soon. I also want to learn how to make me a coat like the one she is wearing a with a funky print. Ahh! It is almost time for fall. Photo from here.
Kendall Jenner covers Teen Vogue for their September issue, and she looks gorgeous. I love these images of her because they show what a great model she has become. The cover story is really great too. I think you all should read it. It gives you a little bit of insight into her life as an up and coming model. Check the story and few more photos here.
Janelle Monae releases the Electric Lady music video and the internet goes wild. Janelle Monae is so talented. I love this video because it reminds me of my days in college when I had just pledged Delta and I went to the Greek parties with my sorority sisters. I loved watching the party hops, and seeing people jamming in a super cool house. I loved Janelle’s rocking fro. I can’t wait until my hair grows that big. Did you see the woman playing Janelle’s mom in the beginning of the video? That was actually her mom. I love this video.
Have you seen the Lupita Nyong’o for Lancome ads? It feels so good to see a woman of color, and a dark skinned one at that, in a makeup ad. Women of color have few options for make up and little to no representation in cosmetic ad campaigns. This is such a wonderful ad and Lupita looks gorgeous…as usual. Photo from here.
P.S. Did you see her new Vogue cover and spread? They came out while I was on vacation and they look amazzzzzing! Check them out here!
Givenchy recently released their fall 2014 ad campaign and now Riccardo Tisci has the models dance in a new video for Givenchy. Kendall Jenner, Julia Nobis, Mariacarla Boscono, the Bryant Brothers, and Jamie Bochert dance to tunes by the Martinez Brothers. The collection is full of natural earth tones and neutrals with some animal print and jewel tones mixed in.
The Olsen twins rocked the Met Gala on Monday night. Both Mary-Kate and Ashley wore vintage Chanel, and were one a just a few people that really followed the actual theme for the night that was based on designer Charles James. I know you don’t necessarily have to follow the theme, but I do wish more of the men wore white tie (tuxedo with tails and a top hat) like the invitation instructed, and I think a lot of the ladies could have worn more ball gowns.
Of all the times to show up in a big poofy ball gown, this was it. I did however like Cara Delevigne’s pants situation. Charles James’ garments always tripped me out because I could never figure out how they were constructed. He was the genius that influenced Dior’s New Look.
