Do you see Nicki Minaj for L’Uomo Vogue? The hit rapper is on the cover of the October issue, and despite the cigarette everything looks great. I love these wigs/haircuts on her. They are a little different for her, but they also looks very chic on her and frame her face. (more…)
We are wrapping up our New York Fashion Week coverage, and survived 7 days of running around the city to bring you the latest and greatest in fashion week news! Here is our take on Day 7 trends!
What’s fashion week without an over-the-top runway presentation by Betsey Johnson? Boring! And our team at FashionMingle.net doesn’t like boring, so luckily for us, we have Betsey Johnson’s runway to look forward to every season. Betsey showcased her Spring collection on Day 7, opening up the show with 2 models representing gay marriage. When they turned around their suit coats said pre-nup! And that was the name of Betsey’s wedding-themed collection.
Erin Fetherston’s collection was classically simple, but lovely. Erin featured black and white, pastel yellows, and deep shades of blue. By default, Betsey’s collection featured a lot of white, since it was wedding themed. Michael Kors’ collection was also heavy on the blues and yellows, though there were some pastels, and black and white separates intermixed in the collection.
No one mixes prints like Anna Sui, and for her Spring 2015 collection she did not disappoint. Erin Fetherston also incorporated florals, but again in a simple, but sophisticated way. The florals in Erin’s collection did not overwhelm the garments. Michael Kors featured a plethora of print looks, but the prints were either floral based or plaid based.
Betsey Johnson’s runway featured lots of tulle, as to be expected for her wedding themed collection. Betsey also featured a few looks that resembled nylon or plastic that would typically be used for rain coat materials! I could definitely see Miley Cyrus in one of these plastic-esque looks! Erin incorporated sheer fabrics into her collection for use in her striped looks.
The Anna Sui models had everything from veils to shades. It was a really cool runway! Betsey Johnson’s wedding themed collection entitled Pre-Nup featured fun heels and fun handbags. She created a cake shape handbag and a lipstick shaped handbag.
The brands Deola Sagoe and Clan fashions debuted for the first time at New York Fashion Week. Deola Sagoe is the designer behind the Deola Sagoe label, while the clan collection is designed by her daughters Tena, Tiwa, and Aba Sagoe. They labels are based in Africa, and this was their first time showing at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The looks were unique, and we love to see emerging and up and coming designers featured at New York Fashion Week.
Kendall Jenner covers Teen Vogue for their September issue, and she looks gorgeous. I love these images of her because they show what a great model she has become. The cover story is really great too. I think you all should read it. It gives you a little bit of insight into her life as an up and coming model. Check the story and few more photos here.
Rihanna goes nude for Lui Magazine and Vogue Brasil. The island gyal is no stranger to nudity, since she is always half naked in her Instagram shots, but even a cease and desist letter from the phone app will stop her from posting the skin pics. She reposted them to Twitter. I see you Rhi Rhi using a work around. Photos from Idolator and Global Grind.
Lupita Nyong’o is People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Person of 2014 and she got to chop it up with model Alek Wek in this super awesome video. Alek Wek is her beauty icon, so it was great to see her chit chat with her and share a genuine sisterhood moment with her. Check it out above!
Have you had a chance to see David and Victoria Beckham in Vogue Paris? Despite all of the ups and downs this couple has had, they still seem to be into each other. They seem to still find each other sexy. The editorial for Vogue Paris was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and styled by Emmanuelle Alt. David and Victoria have some solo shots, but the pictures with the two of them together are very sensual and sexy in a classy way. They don’t look like the trying to be extra provocative shots the superstar couple took for their Armani underwear ad. Catch the rest of the spread at Design Scene.
Lady Gaga is going to cover the October 2013 issue of Elle magazine. She looks awesome in her blond and pink wig! I can’t wait for Artpop to come out. I needed that album like yesterday. Photo from here.
Watch Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, or CCDD as I like to call her, style Joan Smalls for V Magazine. Joan Smalls is styled up by the infamous French stylist to look like Tina Turner for V Magazine’s September issue. CCDD is one of my favorite stylists and herx editorials and styling gigs are practically famous. Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele is the one who styled Anna Wintor’s first Vogue cover after all. You know the one with the jeans and couture on it… Anyway. Get into the goodness of this video, and have a wonderful weekend!
Lady Gaga stars on four V Magazine covers this week with four corresponding editorials that represent her as the David Bowie fan, her in her current state, her in the past, and her as Donatella Versace. The pop star also released her new single “Applause” early, or maybe she leaked it. Anyway. Gaga will be preforming at the MTV VMA’s at the end of August, so prepare for the media onslaught that is about to happen. Photo from ONTD.
Look at this week’s Bad Bish Kate Moss in Stuart Weitzman Fall 2013 Ad Campaign. Can you believe the new fall ad campaigns are out now?! So surreal. I feel like I was just looking at spring’s ad campaigns. Anyway. Stuart Weitzman chose Kate Moss for a second season because she is a global icon whose street style influences tons of women. I can’t blame them. These photos are hot! Photos from Stuart Weitzman.
Miley Cyrus’ transformation from teeny bopper Disney star to adult woman is complete as she poses for an editorial and sits down for an interview with V Magazine. I’ve been a fan of Miley for a number of years now. I don’t know if this new look and new attitude is contrived like every other celebrity in Hollywood’s look is contrived, but I like it. I think she has had one of the most seamless transitions from child star to adult we have seen in the last few years. The rest of the editorial and snippets of the interview are worth taking a look at. Check them out here on Fashionista’s website.
*Don’t forget that both of these contests end in a few hours!
Georgia May Jagger looks really badass in the new Hudson Jeans ads. She gives a hot rock star edge to them photos. I wonder where she gets that from? Hmm… The ad campaign has an Instagram feel to it and also stars her brother James Jagger and her boyfriend Josh McLellan. [SOURCE]
Sending congratulations to Fei Fei Sun for being the first solo Asian model to cover Vogue Italia. The cover was shot by Steven Meisel. He always shoots the Vogue Italia covers. Fei Fei Sun looks great in the pictures inspired by photographer Richard Avedon and 60s model China Machado. Photos from Models.com.

Kate Moss stars and looks gorgeous in the new Stuart Weitzman Spring 2013. The international campaign was shot by Mario Testino. “I had a great time shooting the Stuart Weitzman campaign and I’m so happy to be face of the brand this season,” said Kate Moss. “Working with Mario Testino is always fun and it was wonderful meeting Stuart on set.” Photos from Stuart Weitzman.
Candice Huffine and Laura Catterall prove that plsu size girls can wear prints too in Marina Rinaldi’s S/S 13 ad campaign. They look pretty hot if you ask me. I was finally able to visit a Marina Rinaldi store when I went to Monaco. It was divine. I think there is one in New York City. I might have to check that out the next time I am in the city. Click here for a video and the rest of the campaign.
Androgynous model Andrej Pejic Channels Warhol for Du Jour Magazine, and he looks fabulous while doing so! He always looks so fierce. I don’t know how he does it. I guess that is why he is such an in demand model. Andrej Pejic is so talented! Photo from Fashionista.
I found this picture of Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss for the December 2012 issue of Interview Russia on Modelinia’s Tumblr page. I have seen other shots of the editorial featuring the two supermodels on other websites as well. If you want to see more, I would buy this particular issue of Interview Russia. Naomi and Kate look awesome. They seem to be aging very well. Don’t you think?
I shot for Shop Epitome over the weekend. It was really fun, and the models were great. The weather was really cloudy and challenging for me, but I am happy it didn’t rain. I am also really happy that the photos came out great. Here is a photo from Instagram.
This season’s Yuna Yang collection was simply beautiful. With a pre-show clip featuring a fashion caper who stole the collection out of an apartment and dashed through Central Park, I was able to get a glimpse of the collection before the fashion presentation began. Then the music of Civil Twilight started and the first looks came out in the Nasdaq building.
The Erin Barr show was a lesson in sophisticated, downtown chic. Tight, tailored cropped pants, blouses, and dresses adorned the models on a set that looked like a mid-century living room or an extremely chic early 1960s all girl college dorm common room. The modernist black and white shoes by Michael Antonio really added to this stark collection. The palette went from beige and grey to black and red stripes. The slits and v-cuts added a sexiness to the collection. If you want to know what sophisticated, downtown chic is… check out this collection
