I have stylish relationship goals. I promise you I’m not vain, however I want the ability to have my future beau and I look effortlessly cool. I don’t want to look like we try to hard, because when it comes to getting dressed everyday…I really don’t try that hard. When I look at this picture of style icons Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg, I just see cool. My future beau and I may never be that cool. That is a-ok, but…we can try.
Naomi Campbell slays at 44 years of age! She is a true supermodel…okokokokok!!!!! She looks amazing. Her body is insane. I can only hope and pray that my body looks somewhat like that when I get to be her age. Also doesn’t the shoot with Jourdan Dunn look super cute and fun. I love that these two brands chose black models to pose for and represent them. Here’s to hoping more brands follow suit soon!
Solange got married and #broketheinternet. She had the wedding of my wildest dreams. I always said that if I got married I would want to do my own thing. I am not the ype to worry about social norms. Solange showed me that yes I can do whatever I want to do, why… because it is my day. Thanks for the inspiration Solange and congrats of your wedding! Photo from Vogue.
I love fashion label Kaelen. I went to one of the brand’s first major shows during New York Fashion Week a few seasons ago. The line is young, yet sophisticated. It is also very fresh and hip. These are the kinds of clothes I want to design for plus size women. I want to make clothes that look modern like these garments in the picture above. Kaelen is such an inspiration to me. Photos from here.
Look at Beyonce. Look at her. Beyonce is giving me fall wardrobe inspiration in one photo. I love the long boyfriend coat, the black jeans, and the heels. I am looking for the perfect pair of black heels for the fall. Hopefully I can find them soon. I also want to learn how to make me a coat like the one she is wearing a with a funky print. Ahh! It is almost time for fall. Photo from here.
Kendall Jenner covers Teen Vogue for their September issue, and she looks gorgeous. I love these images of her because they show what a great model she has become. The cover story is really great too. I think you all should read it. It gives you a little bit of insight into her life as an up and coming model. Check the story and few more photos here.
Check out in Sasha Pivovarova in “Incendiaire” by David Sims for Vogue Paris, August 2014. I hadn’t really seen her modeling in a lot of things lately, but then all of sudden I started seeing her pop up in things. I am glad she is back in the game. I always really loved her look. Find the rest of the photos on Storm Trooper Fashion.
Have you seen the Lupita Nyong’o for Lancome ads? It feels so good to see a woman of color, and a dark skinned one at that, in a makeup ad. Women of color have few options for make up and little to no representation in cosmetic ad campaigns. This is such a wonderful ad and Lupita looks gorgeous…as usual. Photo from here.
P.S. Did you see her new Vogue cover and spread? They came out while I was on vacation and they look amazzzzzing! Check them out here!
So you knew this week’s Bad Bish was gonna be Rihanna. I mean… hello! Rihanna channeled Josephine Baker at the CFDA Awards in an Adam Selman gown, and she looked gorgeous. To all the haters saying that she was too naked…back off!! She looked amazing. This is why she got the CFDA Fashion Icon Award. Photo from here. Don’t forget to check out the making of the dress video clip below!
The Olsen twins rocked the Met Gala on Monday night. Both Mary-Kate and Ashley wore vintage Chanel, and were one a just a few people that really followed the actual theme for the night that was based on designer Charles James. I know you don’t necessarily have to follow the theme, but I do wish more of the men wore white tie (tuxedo with tails and a top hat) like the invitation instructed, and I think a lot of the ladies could have worn more ball gowns.
Of all the times to show up in a big poofy ball gown, this was it. I did however like Cara Delevigne’s pants situation. Charles James’ garments always tripped me out because I could never figure out how they were constructed. He was the genius that influenced Dior’s New Look. Rihanna goes nude for Lui Magazine and Vogue Brasil. The island gyal is no stranger to nudity, since she is always half naked in her Instagram shots, but even a cease and desist letter from the phone app will stop her from posting the skin pics. She reposted them to Twitter. I see you Rhi Rhi using a work around. Photos from Idolator and Global Grind.
Lupita Nyong’o rocks the May Cover of Marie Claire magazine along with four other actresses-Kate Mara, Emilia Clarke, Elizabeth Olsen. Lupita looks so good on this cover. She is beautiful and bright. Her smile says it all. The pink dress looks great against her skin and her natural high top hairstyle is super cute! I love it! Fashionista has the rest of the photos. Photo from Fashionista.com.
So you guys know I can’t get enough of Lupita Nyong’o, and I guess you guys know I died three times when I saw her new Vogue Italia spread by Tom Munro. She looks like a fierce Grace Jones. I just can’t get over the styling and makeup in this editorial. I love how they let her natural skin color show. If you are not familiar with her, check out my outer posts on her here and here. I hope she wins her Oscar. Check out the rest of the spread on Black Keys.

The shade of it all. Look how Ronan Farrow shades the heck out of the Woody Allen Tribute at the Golden Globes. Woody Allen has made some amazing movies, but I still feel like he is a creep for allegedly molesting his 7 year old adopted daughter, and that time he began a relationship and then subsequently married his other adopted daughter. It just doesn’t seem right to bash Chris Brown and R. Kelly-both who did and continue to do heinous things- yet celebrate someone else who has also done bad things. Anyway… you can always count on Ronan and Mia Farrow to tweet out all of the shade. You should follow them on Twitter.
Queen Bey! King Bey! Whatever you call her, she has outdone herself. Beyonce sold 1 million albums in 1 week of her new hit “Beyonce”. The album came as a surprise to everyone when it was released last Friday at midnight with 14 songs and 17 videos. The visual album even has casual Beyonce fans and non-Beyonce fans buying the iTunes exclusive in droves. Kudos to Beyonce. She has clearly slayed the game in ways none of us could imagine. Beyonce is the G.O.A.T.! Photo from here.
Songtress Erykah Badu models Givenchy’s Spring campaign in high style. I think this is a good look for her and the brand. Designer Riccardo Tisci told Style.com that he considers her a style icon and is one of the most stylish women he has ever met. Tisci leaked the photo on his notorious Instagram page. I really suggest you follow him on Instagram for a hug behind the scenes look into his life. Note that some of the photos are suggestive, like the one where he hinted at sleeping with singer Frank Ocean.
Tisci had this to say in the Style.com article about his model choice, “What I want to do with my advertising campaign is spread the love. Already now it’s been three seasons that I’ve been using people that express something—they are great artists, or beautiful women, or stylish women, or models that I really believe in. It’s kind of a family portfolio.”
The Spring 2014 ad campaign features a collection with a heavy mix of Asian and African influences. I thin Ms. Badu is the perfect model for this campaign since she already dresses like this anyway, and like Tisci says, “Erykah, she’s an icon—come on!” Photo from Style.com.
12 Years A Slave star Lupita Nyong’o is in the November 2013 issue of Vogue and she looks amazing. I don’t know who her stylist is or if she has one at all, but her latest red carpet looks for the promotion of her movie have been breathtaking. I love her style. It is fierce, quirky, beautiful, and sophisticated all at the same time. This photo shows a real strong, classy lady. The color is perfect on her body and color looks gorgeous! She is beautiful. I don’t know how she got through those rough scenes in that movie. She must be a strong woman to do that. They are saying that she deserves all the awards for her role in 12 Years a Slave. The movie opens up everywhere today. Photo from here.
Brazilian supermodel Gisele shines bright in this neutral look on the cover of French Vogue. The IMG model was shot by photographer duo Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. Gisele looks very beautiful on this cover. This image has a vintage late 70s slash early 80s feel to it. The makeup is very natural, yet the smokey gives off a subtle sex appeal. Do you all see that hair?!?! The waves are gorgeous! She looks amazing! Photo from IMG Models.
