Check out in Sasha Pivovarova in “Incendiaire” by David Sims for Vogue Paris, August 2014. I hadn’t really seen her modeling in a lot of things lately, but then all of sudden I started seeing her pop up in things. I am glad she is back in the game. I always really loved her look. This week’s currently craving item, really isn’t an item, it’s a trend; sporty spice. No, not sporty spice from the Spice Girls. The fashion trend that hit the runway during fashion week. In his [second] show for Balenciaga, Alexander Wang showed us just how to wear this fashion trend. The model in this image is wearing a structured crop top with a tennis skort. However, there are many ways to sport this trend! The thing that makes this trend unique is the fact that there are several different trends within it. For instance, you have:
- Sporty Mesh
- Bomber Jacket
- Embellished bomber
- Track Pants
To achieve the sporty mesh look, you can layer a camisoles or a bandeau underneath the netted fabric. You can also pair this look with leather shorts or a pair of track pants.
The bomber jacket is perfect for cool nights in the spring, this lightweight, sporty jacket can be paired with a pair of cigarette length pants, better known as slim length, a pair of basketball shorts, not the baggy pair of shorts, the old school Magic Johnson/Larry Bird shorts.
Embellished bomber jacket:
If you’d like to take your bomber jacket to the next level, embellish it!
Have you ever worn track pants with a pair of heels? Don’t think it could be done? Think again! When it comes to the sporty spice trend, almost everything is acceptable! You can pair a pair of track pants with a crop top, and a pair of heels and be on your way!
What are your thoughts on this trend?

Check out supermodel Jourdan Dunn in the December 2013 issue of Vogue. She was shot by Patrick Demarchelier. Since this is the holiday issue of Vogue, she aptly looks the part don’t you think? The plum eye makeup and the ruby nail polish adds to the holiday glam look, along with the David Morris jewels and Versace top. This is a very pleasant combination. I am already getting outfit ideas from this very picture! Photo spotted on Models of Color Tumblr.
12 Years A Slave star Lupita Nyong’o is in the November 2013 issue of Vogue and she looks amazing. I don’t know who her stylist is or if she has one at all, but her latest red carpet looks for the promotion of her movie have been breathtaking. I love her style. It is fierce, quirky, beautiful, and sophisticated all at the same time. This photo shows a real strong, classy lady. The color is perfect on her body and color looks gorgeous! She is beautiful. I don’t know how she got through those rough scenes in that movie. She must be a strong woman to do that. They are saying that she deserves all the awards for her role in 12 Years a Slave. The movie opens up everywhere today. Photo from here.

It looks like Beyonce is getting a lot of love on this blog, but it is officially Bey Season…so uh…duh! This is the second time she has posed for Vogue. While I think the pictures are beautiful and show a more mature Beyonce, I also think they are just a tad bit dowdy. She is only in her early 30s. I would expect this photo shoot for a star in her 40s maybe. Either way Bey Season is here, so get ready for the Beyonce onslaught! Check out the rest of the photos at Vogue.com.
Rooney Mara’s Feb. 2013 Vogue cover is horrible, which is really bad since she is a pretty girl. It is awkward and weird looking. The random hair flowing across her face looks like it was probably a nuisance. I bet she wanted to swat it away. I hate how they placed her in the photo and then placed the text around her. The composition is all the way off! Yuck! Anyway. You can read the rest of the article at Vogue.com. The rest of the photos in the editorial look great. It sucks that they spoiled it with a bad cover shot though. Photos from Vogue.
Sending congratulations to Fei Fei Sun for being the first solo Asian model to cover Vogue Italia. The cover was shot by Steven Meisel. He always shoots the Vogue Italia covers. Fei Fei Sun looks great in the pictures inspired by photographer Richard Avedon and 60s model China Machado. Photos from Models.com.
I really believe that Jenna Lyons of J. Crew fame is a modern day style icon. This picture is from the recent CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards. The fancy print with cropped pants and red heels is just adorable in a classic nerdy chic kinda way. Her easy breezy, messy preppy style is cute and comfy. It also looks incredibly relatable, which is one of the reasons J. Crew has done so well under her leadership. Photo from Fashionista.com.
Sports Illustrated bikini model Kate Upton shows us that she does know how to model clothes in this month’s Vogue. I hope she gets more high fashion modeling gigs after this feature in Vogue. Photo from Refinery29.

This week Franca Sozzani, the EIC of Vogue Italia, was awarded France’s Légion d’Honneur. For the occasion, she wore Dolce and Gabbana. Congratulations!

Ok so Mercedes and Santana couldn’t make it to the party, but at least they could have kept some kind of consistency. I mean I love to see Artie dance, but isn’t he supposed to be in a wheelchair, and didn’t Sam leave the show? Whatever. Everybody still looks hot. The full version is a whole lot better than the trailer, and the trailer was hot. I love the runway action, and Mike’s smooth dance moves. Yes I know I am being a huge Gleek by mentioning the characters tv show names and not their real names. Deal with it!
Cindy Crawford looks amazing at 45 years old on the cover of Vogue Singapore. Photo from Fashionista.
According to this video from Vogue, to coincide with the Kate Moss wedding story, she is cooler than cool. We already knew that though. Check out the video to see her greatest friends wax poetically about her.
Vogue Hellas, aka Greece, and Vogue Portugal made a serious boo boo this month by using the same photo for their covers. Different editions of Vogue Magazine usually share photos. It is something that is pretty common, but I don’t recall them ever sharing the cover at the same time. What makes this even worse, is the fact that this photo was in the June/July issue of Vogue Paris. Confused yet? I wonder what went down when the snafu was found out. That had to be an incredibly tense and awkward moment, and can you imagine the phone call between the two editors? I would love to be a fly on the wall, wouldn’t you? Photo from Fashionista.com.
Emma Watson looks stunning on the cover of next month’s Vogue. Even though the cover was leaked over the weekend, Vogue.com has posted the interview and other pictures today. I think she looks amazing in the editorial and on the cover. I know some people aren’t thrilled with the look, but sometimes different can be good. Check out the rest of the photos and interview on Vogue.com. Thoughts?
The 2011 Met Ball honoring British designer Alexander McQueen was held last night. Today we are going to go over the fashions. You know the drill… who was hot and who most certainly was not. Who did you love, hate, or feel very meh about? Photos from The Cut.

Look what came out over the interwebz while I was in the mountains this weekend…Rihanna’s rumored Vogue cover. She tweeted about it a little prematurely a few months ago, and now we can finally see the real thing. She looks great on the cover. A lot of people think she looks like Ariel from The Little Mermaid and I concur. What do you think? Photo from Fashion Bomb Daily.
Also to all of my Japanese readers, my heart is with you right now. I have a friend over there who is running low on food, and is without water and electricity. She also lives near one of the nuclear reactors. If you live in Japan, have some kind of tie to Japan, or are just a kind human being, please try and help in any way that you can. I gave to the Red Cross. They are usually pretty good at helping in these situations.
