Charleston Fashion Week 2011 Night Four

Hey everyone. I am still in Charleston enjoying Charleston Fashion Week. Things have been a blast. I can’t believe toay is the last day of CHSFW and my busiest too. I have the bridal show first, then I have the Gilt-y party at the Cynthia Rowley store and more fashion shows at night. Oh and I still have to pack.

Last night’s shows were very interesting in a good way. We had Sucker Jeans who, if you remember from last year, makes seersucker jeans. They seem really neat, I just wish they styled the show better. Then we had Mary Mojo Boutique & The Shoe Fairy. I enjoyed the clothes more than the shoes, but it was still the same old beachy beachwear.

Next up is Biton. I really like this store’s clothes and I love visiting the store when I am in town for a vacay. I would have loved for you to have seen their clothes as well, but the camera didn’t record the runway footage. šŸ™ The last store up was Gwynn’s of Mt. Pleasant. There store is always great and has a great mix of designers like Alice + Olivia and Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Then came the Emerging Designers, but before I get to them I just want to say that I was sitting across the runway from Fern Mallis and she is AMAZING!!!!! Okay moving on now. The Emerging DesignersĀ  have been extremely talented this year.

La’Daska Powell showed amazing swimwear. It was very architectural and very sexy. Thea Canlas had a very tribal themed collection. I loved that it was inspired by her Filipino roots. Isabel Crosby showed a military, workwear inspired collection. It featured mens and womenswear which I thought was great. I like when the designers show menswear. Sometimes I feel like you don’t see that enough. The last Emerging Designer to show was Charlotte Hess. As a knitter, I was awed and inspired by her knitwear. I hope I can knit like that one day. She deserved to win the People’s Choice and finalist spot.

The featured designer for the night was SCAD and Project Runway alum April Johnston. Her collection was a mix between the light and the dark and featured one shoulder maxi dresses with different colored and shaped panels. I liked her collection because it could see people wearing it. I also want to say that she was really nice. She stopped to take pics with my friends and she even spoke to us for a little bit.

Now I am off to bed, since I have to get up at 6 am tomorrow.
