Columbia Style Week rolls along with night four. The crowds are heavier and the photo pit is jumping. It is so good to see people embrace fashion in Columbia. I know that I’ve covered local events in the past, but fashion in my hometown in very much nonexistent, so the fact that people are showing out for a 5 day fashion event is HUGE! Check out the designer reviews below.
Local online boutique Torn Curtain showed a cute mix of vintage and vintage looking outfits. It reminded me of a cuter, more sophisticated Modcloth. Two jewelry designers showed their wares also.
Ziva Collection was full of brightly colored jewels and She She NY was full of antique looking gold pieces. So apparently Ziva Collection and She She NY were clothing collections and not jewelry, but I couldn’t tell so umm take that for what it is. Another local online boutique called MayaQobas, who at the Carolina Bloggin’ event in March, showed a tropical inspired collection that made me want to take a vacation. Jennifer Gherlardini had the best designer collection of the night with sophisticated evening and dress wear in a color palette that everyone could wear. The thing that I liked the most about her collection was the fact that while there were some edgy pieces and there were a lot of wearable/commercial pieces as well. The last designer up was Twelve Swim who showed really pretty swimwear that unfortunately had weird jewel pieces attached in odd places. They really took away from the swimwear.
Tonight was amazing. This week in general has been great. The only thing I would say is that the show is a little long. When one model get to the end of the runway, another should be at the back of the runway. That would speed things up. There were too many intermissions. They also let designers show too many pieces. Only the main designer for the night should show a full collection. Everyone else should be limited to 10 pieces. Tomorrow is the Bridal Show in the morning and the finale at night, so look out for those post.
