Constance White Named New Editor of Essence

I am so excited and happy to hear this news. I think Constance White is an amazing person, and oh so perfect for this job. In my opinion, Essence hasn’t been the same in a while. I, and other women, haven’t been all that pleased with what the magazine was selling for a long time. I feel like they lost touch with the modern Black woman. Constance White should do a good job of making the magazine great again. What do you think?

According to WWD:

Constance C.R. White, former style director and brand consultant for eBay, has been tapped as editor in chief of Essence. She succeeds Angela Burt-Murray, who moved to Atlanta in November with her family. In addition to eBay, White served as founding fashion editor for Talk magazine, style reporter for the New York Times and executive fashion editor for Elle. Former Essence editor Marcia Ann Gillespie, who assisted in the editor in chief search, joins the magazine as special project director.

  1. Based upon her background, she appears to be a good pick. I just hope that Essence will continue to excel and be the go to magazine that addresses the issues that effect women.
