I Heart Thrifting Day 2011

On Saturday, I had the pleasure along with Shanika Pichey of Life is Pichey and other fabulous women to enjoy I Heart Thrifting Day. If you don’t know what it is, basically you get a group of people together to go to different thrift stores around your city and you have a blast. This was a nationwide event, but I must say Columbia’s was the best. 😉

The first stop we made was the Goodwill on Garners Ferry Road. We spent around 3 hours in there messing around with shopping carts too full to mention. I ended up spending less than $25 on a blouse and matching skirt set, a dress, and about 15 records to add to my record collection. Score!

Next we moved on to the Old Mill Antique Mall on State Street. Word to the wise, it is dusty and hot in there. There is no AC, but if you are looking to sweat through some treasures, this is the place. I now know where I will get my next set of glassware from. I also found a crazy amount of old cameras and postcards. While there I found two postcards, several comic books from the 50s-70s, and @jsnsimmons helped me find a Deniece Williams record to add to my collection. Then it was time for lunch down the street at Cafe Strudel.

Towards the end of our thrifting adventure, we went to Thrift Avenue. I am in love with Thrift Avenue because they have so many great things including plus sizes. Yay! They also give 90% their proceeds to Pets Inc., one of the local animal shelters. I was able to buy a wok cookbook, so I can finally put that wok of mine to use.

All in all I had a blast. I met great people, scored some awesome deals, and had a blast. I can’t wait for I Heart Thrifting Dy next year.
