Katya Leonovich showed 24 looks today at New York Fashion Week. The crowd was large and very hype. Everyone was spilling into the show. It just so happened that I was coincidentally seated next to two of my friends. The designs were very intricate and looked like they took quite a lot of technical skill to create. A lot of the looks were asymmetrical or had short pieces of fabric layered on top of one another. Some of the garments played with texture by having crinkled and ruffled fabrics. The green, beige, grey, and white color palette, along with the asymmetrical deconstruction of the garments set the mood along with the thunderous music. The collection was very creative. While I love designers who follow trends, it is also amazing to see designers who choose to have their own voice and stand out from the crowd. This designer gets serious props from me for the intense construction and individuality of the garments.
