OK guys and dolls! Milan Fashion Week started with the Gucci and Alberta Ferretti shows, and I’m back with the some regularly scheduled programing. Am I still behind in my work and daily errands….HECK YEAH, but fashion and fashion blogging stops for no one so here I am blogging to you. I actually took some time out of the day yesterday to watch the live streams of the Gucci and Alberta Ferretti shows. I loved them both. I think it was the colors. They will most certainly brighten up fall. Happy 90th Gucci!
Let’s start with the Gucci show. It was so beautiful. Frida Giannini said that she was inspired by Florence and the Machine and Anjelica Houston as she was shot by photographer Bob Richardson in the 70s. I loved it. I guess we can say that yes the 70s are back in fashion, after a good season or two of hinting on it. The pants, boots, jackets and furs were so marvelous. I also loved the chiffon dresses that flowed so free and sexy down the runway. The hats and fur were a nice touch too. I loved how the colors were bright jewel tones, yet there was a black and white winter wonderland section thrown in there as well. Oh… I need to save up for a python bag…now!
The Alberta Ferretti show had a similar color palette, but I liked the fact that there were a lot of patterns and squiggly lines running throughout the fabric. Then there was a section with these beautiful, airy dresses with sequins, chiffon, and crystals. So beautiful. I think the hottest thing in the collection was the short dresses with thigh high boots. I saw quite a bit of this in New York amongst the attendants at fashion week.
