Between the Galliano saga, the rumors that Pilati will leave YSL, and the sad rumor that Decarnin was a no show at the Balmain show because he was in a mental hospital, I have no clue what to think about Paris Fashion Week Fall 2011. Everything has gone crazing. Paris is truly burning. I had a small bit of time to look at the recent shows, which really means I looked at them around midnight when I should have been in bed. Here are some that caught my eye.
Carven is my new favorite line. I love the clothes from last season, and I love the clothes this season. They are sweet, chic, and perfectly French.
Manish Arora was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! The prints were everything I needed in life and more.
Mugler… What can I say that hasn’t already been said? From Lady Gaga to the models to the shoes to the clothes… It was fantastic. It reminded me of the fashion shows from the 80s and 90s. So…who is going place bets on how long it takes Montana to make a comeback?
Rue du Mail was gorgeous and womanly, with sex appeal.
Ann Demeulemeester was dark and furry. I loved the fur and beautifully structured coats to no end.
Balenciaga was a mix of floral prints and geometric shapes. Strangely the collection didn’t bore me this season. The clothes still look hard to wear though.
Balmain was supposedly designed y the in house team because Decarnin wasn’t there. I really feel like it looked like clothes I could find at any edgy clothing store. It wasn’t that great.
Barbara Bui was great. It was the collection that I wanted Balmain to be.
Zac Posen was muted and more mature. I know some might not like it, but I think it looked great.
