Partnered Post: The BRITs: forget the music; it’s all about the fashion! By Very UK!

The BRITs may have been a night to celebrate the best of the British music scene (complete with award winners cut off mid-speech) but for many, it was the glam dresses worn by the female stars that were the real highlight of the evening.

London-based vocalist Adele, who shot to fame in 2008 following the success of her debut single Chasing Pavements, attended the prestigious event in an elegant black number, complete with sheer sleeves and diamond-studded jewellery.

Having only recently celebrated her victory at the Grammy Awards, where she scooped a double hat-trick of gongs, including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album, Adele’s lucky streak continued: she was presented with the BRIT awards for British Female Solo Artist of the Year and British Album of the Year.

Meanwhile, fellow nominee Rihanna accepted an award for Best International Female, clad in a gold sequin-covered gown with plunging neckline and long satin gloves. However, arguably, the real vixens of the evening were Florence Welch of Florence of the Machine, Jessie J and Pixie Lott.

Florence Welch’s outfit made up for her lack of awards – she wore a stunning ‘waterfall’ peach embroidered gown that showed off her legs and gladiator wedge shoes, whilst Pixie Lott opted for a strapless black-tassel dress teamed with a red velvet clutch bag and elegant drop earrings.

Raven-haired Jessie J went for the risqué scarlet woman look, in a floor-trailing red lace dress with embroidered beads, flowers and sequins. Other glamorously dressed stars included X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, who wore a Cleopatra-style purple and gold number, Cher Lloyd who dazzled in a pink and black glittery jumpsuit, and Kylie Minogue, who went for the ‘sea goddess’ look, in a flowing blue strapless dress.

Although most of us don’t have a social calendar packed with red carpet events, with summer on the horizon there’s sure to be plenty of parties and glamorous, balmy evenings to look forward to.
