Raf Simons for Christian Dior Spring 2013 seems to be a hit amongst the fashion elite and Paris Fashion Week has barely started. The show which is to be the first among what the media is calling a showdown between Raf Simons for Dior and Hedi Slimane for Yves Saint Laurent or Saint Laurent Paris as it is now being called.
The show happened earlier this morning in Paris, and has engulfed the fashion airwaves, as usual, with its ode to the past and the House of Dior and Simons’ break with minimalism. The bright colors and swirling floral prints were a brilliant contrast to the dark tuxedo suits and coat dresses the inundated the collection. The tuxedo coat dresses were a sexy take on the masculine is feminine trend. Asymmetrical hemlines in bright tops were hung over plain black shorts. I didn’t expect this collection to get so much praise when I first saw it. It was very hit or miss with me. I liked some elements and disliked others, nonetheless it was a great effort by Raf Simons. Next up…Hedi Slimane.
Oh…before we go…have you seen the shoes from the collection? They looked so painful on several models blistered and red feet.
