Earlier this morning, I arrived at the Rochambeau SS12 Presentation at Lincoln Center. The dark and gritty menswear collection by Laurence Chandler and Joshua Cooper had everyone in the venue saying nothing but great, enthusiastic things about the clothes.
In the dark room that showcased the collection, a fashion film called “Paralymbic” by Hugh Lippe set the mood as it played in the background. The film, made for the presentation, was just as dark and gritty as the collection. It was created to show New York City in a new light, in a new realness.
Rochambeau’s spring/summer collection included long shorts and blazers, vests and open tees, and skinny and wide leg pants. I really loved the trench coat. It reminded me of Mad Max. As a matter of fact, the whole collection reminded me of an upscale, futuristic Mad Max. This fashion week was about finding new talent for me. The talent these two men showed today literally blew me away.
