Spring 2011 Couture shows roll on with Elie Saab, John Paul Gaultier, and Givenchy.
Elie Saab’s show was so beautiful. The light colors of pastel pinks, purples, and reds combined with the intricate detail work on the dresses reminded me of a secret garden. I can see a lot of red carpet moments with these gowns. The Oscars are a few days away… let’s see if anyone will get a special dress flown in.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s show was light, 40’s inspired, and very French. It reminded me of an old 1940s movie star fell in a Can Can dancer’s closet. I hope that description makes some kind of sense for you. Dita von Teese will look perfect in these clothes.
Givenchy was another gorgeous show. It was so beautiful. Ricardo Tisci was inspired by Japan, Kazuo Ohno, and robot toys. Because of his inspiration, all of the models were Asian. The impressive head wear was made by Philip Treacy, the same man who made the space age Armani Prive hats.
