Hello Everyone! :) This Is The Post That Never Ends! ;)

Thanks for being so patient with me. I am still in the midst of midterm week(s). I don’t know why my teachers never settle on having one week of midterms. URGH ERGH!!! Whatever! I am also still about what seems like three weeks behind on my blog reading except for a handful of blogs that I have had a chance to look at. I am so stressed out right now that sometimes I just have to back away from everything and go play Farmville (SMH!) to relax. I also get so tired at night, but I can’t sleep because I have things to do. I was chatting with some bloggers earlier this week ,and I cut my chat session short to go to bed. Instead of going to bed, I ended up taking my clean clothes out of my hamper and cleaned up my room before finally going to bed three hours later at 2 AM. By that time I was wide awake.

I spent all of Friday night writing two term papers. I didn’t finish until 7:20 AM Saturday morning. Ay- yi-yi! So now all I have to do is study for my Crossing Borders test. Wish me luck and pray for me PLEASE! This is a fun class but sometimes the philosophical and anthropological topics we go over go right over my head. I still like the class and recommend it to any AAU grad student that has to take a GS requirement course.

I don’t know if you guys looked at the rest of Paris Fashion Week. I probably won’t get a chance to do my last post that I had planned with everything coming up, but I must say that I was saddened and happy that Alexander McQueen’s company went ahead with the presentation. The small collection was a beautiful send off to one of the Masters of Design. It was as if he knew his own fate like Biggie and Tupac predicted their own fate. Either way I hope he is in a better place as cliche as that sounds. I just want him to be happy wherever he is in this universe. I loved every piece he created even in this last collection. He was one of the few designers that could consistently present great work. I remember talking to my cousin Alexa about wedding dresses a few years ago. I told her I would either want one that favored Grace Kelly’s dress or one that was medieval in nature because I love the Middle Ages. She laughed and asked me if I wanted a Renaissance Fair costume. NOT THE CASE! I think I finally have an awesome example to show her. Check out my girl Tanya D in this dress from McQueen’s last collection. This is the perfect example of what I would want.
Sorry this post is so long, but there are so many things I have to talk about. This week, as in tomorrow, I am going to do something really exciting. I am scared, nervous, excited, and a number of other emotions all in one. Yippee! I am going to Charleston Fashion Week. I am only going to be there for three days, but I can’t wait. I finally got the OK for my media passes, so I hope to bring you some extra fresh, extra original content with photos, interviews, and hopefully some videos too. My life plans and goals are finally being set into motion after that minor setback from a month ago. I said in September of 2009 that I would go to Charleston Fashion Week in March 2010 to get my feet wet, and then I would go to New York Fashion Week in September of 2010. One down, one to go! If you don’t already, follow me on Twitter @TheFatandSkinny for all the updates from the shows. Hopefully I will try and remember to use their hashtag, #CHSFW.
I also hope to show you the Christian Siriano for Payless shoes that I bought sometime later this week. I received them early because I wanted them to come in fast. They are really hot and fabulous! I can’t wait to show those shoes later.
Before I let you go, I want you to know about some sales from my affiliates and non affiliates.

New York Fashion Week Begins On A Somber Note

Please support The Fat and Skinny Shop!
As you all know New York Fashion begun yesterday with the news of Alexander McQueen’s death.  I think everybody took his death pretty hard. He will be missed. Death and the Snowpocalypse could not stop NYFW. It still moved on at a slower and somber pace. Photos from Style.com.
Vena Cava was amazing. Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock showed what looked like a 1970s Studio 54 meets the wild west. I saw a lot of silk, Western inspired jewelry, and wool. The floppy hats and turtlenecks were a nice touch too. Question to the ladies, will you be sporting Vena Cava’s fall short and fishnet stocking look come fall? Cute yes, but practical? I guess it depends on the climate.
Shipley & Halmos was another awesome collection. Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos really know how to dress a modern woman. The alpaca sweaters and sweatshirts are not only practical for the fall, but they look nice too. The pants were slim fitting, and I even saw a pair of jeans. I wish they would of had a few more jean offerings so there would be a balance between jeans and dress pants. The best thing about the collection were the fur lined coats. Whoever buys them will be so warm next fall.
The thing I liked about Lyn Devon’s collection was that it was full of bright, playful basics that I am sure Audrey Hepburn would have loved to wear. Devon’s collection featured classic cropped and slim pants, cropped shirts, full skirts, playful patterns, and beautiful wool jackets. A perfect collection for the woman who doesn’t like her fashion fussy.

New York Fashion Week Is Here

Well New York Fashion Week has started and the photos are coming in. I am ready for what will be my first of many reviews. Don’t forget to check my reviews from last fashion week, so you can see the trends for this coming fall.

I am just going to say that even though I liked these two collections, they looked too similar. I did like the geometric shapes of the patterns and geometric construction of the clothes. The only thing that bothered me was the weird disconnect between the pieces in the Helmut Lang collection. Half of it looked like BCBG and the other half looked like Urban Outfitters.

P.S. I am loving these blue nails at Vena Cava, which is ironic because I totes just bought a shade close to this over the weekend. Whoa!
