It’s been a long time. I shouldn’t left you….. Yeah it has been about a month or so since my last blog post, but now I’m back with a brand new look. As you can see by the new layout, I have been busy making ch-ch-changes to the way the blog is set up. I wanted a new look for The Fat and Skinny on Fashion for like theeeeee longest time, but I couldn’t find a layout that I thought made the blog look the way I wanted it to look. Shout out to the Bloggers Like Me Facebook group for introducing me and a bunch of other bloggers to this theme. If you are a blogger, please go join that group. There are so many people with knowledge and resources all up and throughout it.
Yesterday was my blog’s 7th birthday! Thank you so much for reading The Fat and Skinny on Fashion for Seven Years. I can’t even believe it. I really can’t. When I started the blog during the first semester of grad school the Obama’s were just entering their first year in office. I never knew I would still be writing this thing for so many years. I am so thankful for my readers and fans. I am so happy with how far I have come with this blog. I have finished two degrees, gone to several fashion weeks, made so many friends, and had so much fun! Here’s to many more!
Sorry if I have been somewhat inconsistent with the blog. I have been thinking of taking the blog back to the way it used to be, but most importantly I’ve been working hard on school work. I am in Collections class now, so I will be showing several garments for my first fashion show at school in March. The pressure is on. I have redone one garment so many times. I have literally remade the pattern and then sewn the dress in muslin like a million times. Please bear with me while I try to get my fashion education on! Thanks. Photo from here.
I can’t believe it. The Fat and Skinny on Fashion Blog is six!! The little blog I started as a hobby and then became my graduate thesis project is growing up. I am so proud of my baby. Because of my blog, I have gone to various fashion weeks-including New York Fashion Week, met a lot of cool people, and made some awesome friends. I have experienced so many wonderful things because of my blog that I would have never dreamed of doing.
The blog post will be on hiatus for a little bit because I have a lot of things to do, but not a lot of time to do them. I have to take my car to the shop because I was in an accident-I’m ok- and then I have a ton of school stuff to work on. See ya real soon. Photo from here.
Happy 5th Birthday The Fat and Skinny on Fashion! I am so proud of what you have become. I started this blog as a graduate school project 5 years ago today. I still can’t believe I have stuck with it. This blog has helped me graduate from graduate school, meet new people, and learn new skills. I am a computer whiz now!
Hey everyone! I wanted to introduce you guys to my interns who have been working with me for the past few months. They are both really talented and have their own blogs as well. go back through the site and check out some of their posts and don’t forget to follow Denesha’s blog and Maddy’s blog. Also don’t forget about the $125 gift card giveaway.
My name is Denesha McCormick and I’m currently a senior, majoring in studio art at Columbia College with a concentration in graphic design. I have a plus-size fashion blog, The Chronicles of a Fatshionista, which I started in January of this year. Working as an intern for Jai is an amazing opportunity to learn more about what I love the most; fashion.
My name is Maddy Pease, and I am an aspiring interior/ fashion designer. I am a freshman at Columbia College where I hold positions as captain for the lacrosse team and Vice President of the freshman class. I am really excited to have this internship and be working with Jai and learning the in’s and out’s of the fashion industry.

If you have been wondering why I haven’t been blogging this week on schedule, it is because I am trying to work on some computer things, I am doing some rearranging in my home, and I am skipping New York Fashion Week this season for three new events this month. Things are hectic but good.
See ya soon!
Because Google doesn’t quite know what it wants to do with Feedburner, I have decided to switch to my original blog RSS feed. Google basically wants to terminate Feedburner’s services, and hasn’t really been taking care of the website.
So if you want to follow my blog via RSS feed, click the little orange heart on the right sidebar with the two rounded lines and the dot next to the Etsy heart. You could also subscribe to my newsletter by putting your email address in the box above the little hearts. The picture shows you were to click.
Fashion website StyleSayshas just launched a feature for style bloggers that not only helps them post their blog posts to multiple social media sites at once, but also lets them make money from the service as well. The feature was released Monday and lets you publish your blog posts to Blogger, WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Lookbook, and Chicisimo. The new affiliate program lets bloggers share items, and when someone purchases that item, the blogger makes some money. StyleSays is really trying to revolutionize fashion blogging.
This past Saturday, before I went to the SC. State Fair to see The Roots perform an awesome concert, I went to the Carolina Bloggin’ at Gervais & Vine. The food was amazing, the speakers were amazing, and the sponsors were amazing. Thanks Firefly Vodka and thanks That Teowonna for holding this wonderful event again. I got to meet some new bloggers and see some old friends. If you have just started a blog, or have had one for quite some time, go to a blogging conference. They are so much fun, you get a wealth of knowledge, and you get to meet a bunch of great and awesome people.
