Last night I went to 701 Whaley For EdVenture’s Girl’s Night Out! It was so much fun. I met fashion designer Chris Benz, who is extremely nice in person. I also saw a friend perform with Unbound Dance Company, and saw the designer’s Spring 2012 collection. If you want to meet him too, don’t fret. He will be at Coplon’s on 4825 Forest Drive for a trunk show tomorrow from 10-6 and on Saturday from 10-3.
A representative from Yigal Azrouel came to Coplon’s last week. You might recall last week’s blog post where I advertised the event. The recent Resort and Spring 2012 collections were present. I love all of the looks from the collection. There were prints and lace, body conscious skirts and dresses, and lots of long evening dresses and colorful scarves. I couldn’t get enough of it. My favorite items were the scuba inspired skirts and dresses and the motorcycle jacket with the cutouts on the sleeves. Everything was super fabulous.
Last week I went to the USC Fashion Board’s Fashion Week Fashion Show. It was the third annual fashion show and the second one that I have attended, and I can honestly say that is was great. I love the 701 Whaley building with all my heart. It is the perfect place to hold an event, and Marquis Bias and all of the other Fashion Board members really know how to produce a great show.
I got to see some of my friends like Shay from Sheen Magazine, Quinn from Viva la Qbee03, and Eb from Make Me Over Eb. I also got to talk to Keisha from Makeup By Kei Kei. Check out her beauty videos on Youtube for great tips. I also got to see the ladies from Flock and Rally and Alicia Barnes from WOLO. I also want to thank The Shop Tart for taking this lovely picture of me and Dwaun from Shopping Savage. I haven’t spoken to him in like 4 or 5 years. In the picture I am wearing my flatforms that you can’t see, my Gap maxi dress that I need to dye because it is fading, and my Topshop Kimono. If I got to talk to you and I forgot to mention your name, I’m really sorry.
The Fashion Board at the University of South Carolina is holding their fashion week activities this week. I went to the fashion show last night and had a blast. I was lucky enough to get a seat facing the models in the area where the photo pit would normally be. I also got to see some of my friends like Eb from MakeMeOverEb, Anne from The Shop Tart, and others.
The show featured looks from boutiques around Columbia like Bohemian, M Boutique, Mary, Just the Thing, Pink Sorbet, Brittons, Unforgettable Jewelry, La Roque, Van Jean, and Coplon’s. They all showed trendy and very fashionable looks. The thing that caught my attention was the fact that Columbia has awesome boutiques with awesome clothes for sale just like Charleston, but the people in my hometown are not known for their fashion sense, so I don’t see many people dressed in these clothes. Hmmm…
The show also had a showing from the school’s own designers who were called Emerging Designers. They were all really good. I think some of the lines could have been edited a little bit more, but they were pretty good. Camille Yanair made a collection using recyclable materials. Each model held up a sign stating what their dress was made of. Emma Graham Designs showed fun and girly dresses. Ellen and Ellie used cool patterns. Everything was very retro. Emily Claire Studio reminded me of NYC or Paris. It was for the cool girl that loves lace. Brad Boltinghouse’s “_aholic” collection was full of dark colors and clothes that used lots of peplum and structure. Some of my pictures came out blurry because the models were walking so so so fast, but I hope you enjoy them. I also had a video, but I don’t think you could see the models that well because of my seat position.
