Spring 2016 Couture Was Truly Decadent

Spring 2016 CoutureFrom left to right: 1. Julien Fournie 2. Christian Dior 3. Aouadi 4. Ralph & Russo 5. Chanel 6. Zuhair Murad

The minimalism of the previous seasons are truly a thing of the past. Spring 2016 couture was truly decadent in nature. Even the most bland of garments had a little something extra going on. Many garments had low cut necklines, pajama dressing is still in, and flouncy chiffon and lace are still a favorite with extra beading in the mix.

The Fall 2015 Couture Fashion Shows Are Giving Me All The Feels

Couture Fall 2015
Couture Fall 2015
From L to R: Valentino, Viktor & Rolf, Zuhair Murad, Christian Dior, Giambattista Valli, Elie Saab, Ulyana Sergeenko, and Alexis Mabille

I just want you all to know that I thoroughly enjoyed the fall 2015 couture fashion shows. They are giving me all the feels. Sometimes I am skeptical of what I see. Sometime designers either do too little or too much with couture. This season though… was amazing.

Bad Bish- Paris Couture Street Style

Paris Couture Street Style

Paris Couture Street StyleI saw this picture while looking at the Paris couture street style slideshow on The Cut. The colors look so amazing together. The striking pink shots with the clear ombre heel. The white dress with the red ruffles, and then you have the blue fur. The blue fur?!?!? It is just gorgeous. I don’t know who this woman is, but she has some serious style. Paris Couture Fashion Week. She couldn’t have picked a better place to show off her style. Have a great weekend!  🙂

Shoe of the Week- Chanel Couture Sneakers

Chanel couture sneakers

Chanel couture sneakers

Karl Lagerfeld decided to add Chanel Couture Sneakers to the couture fashion show this week. While I liked the collection, quite a few people thought it was a hot mess. I think the styling was a little off, but the garments were beautiful. The weird thing is that I wore sneakers to prom, so I am not against wearing sneakers with pretty dresses. These sneakers looked like old lady shoes, or those Melissa jellys people used to wear in the 90s. I just don’t know what to say about that. Photos from Style.com. P.S. Today is my 27th birthday. I think someone…anyone should buy my a chanel bag for mah burfday. Ahh… a girl can dream…

Spring 2012 Couture Gets Girly

Elie Saab, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier showed either preciously pastel or rowdy rock and roll inspired collections. Elie Saab showed dainty pastels that would be perfect for the upcoming Oscars. Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri created flowery printed gowns perfect for the girlest girly girl. Jean Paul Gaultier’s new couture collection was inspired by Amy Winehouse, so you know it is perfect for any beehived diva! I am really enjoying the couture gowns this season. They are so beautiful! Spring 2012 Couture Brings The Embellishments

Yesterday’s couture shows proved that embellishments are in. From crocodile skins to shiny fabrics and ombre colors, there is nothing plain about these clothes. Karl Lagerfeld used every single shade of blue imaginable. Richardo Tisci used reptile skins in the craziest ways. Giorgio Armani’s fabric shined through a dark runway set. I can see a lot of ready to wear trends in this week’s couture shows. I wonder what the designers are going to show next. Photos from Style.com.

Spring 2012 Couture Season Is Here

Spring 2012 Couture Fashion Week is going on right now in Paris, France. The menswear shows have just finished, and in a few weeks the hoopla of fashion week will start all over again. Aren’t you excited?!?! I am!

Donatella designed a Versace collection that looked like a 60s lacy space gladiator. The colors went from a lavender grey to neon green. This collection was great considering this was the first couture collection they had done in quite a few years.

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Week Part 2

Chanel Fall 2011 couture

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Week is still rolling along with a few shows yesterday by the big dogs. Chanel, Armani Prive, and Givenchy showed yesterday, and as you can imagine, they were out of sight. Chanel is usually hit or miss for me. There is only so much you can do with the Chanel aesthetic, but Karl Lagerfeld managed to make cool starry night, cosmos themed couture with light shoes too. Armani Prive was just ok to me. There were some definite knockout pieces, but the prints were a little much for me.  I love Asian inspired clothing, I just didn’t like how it was done here. Givenchy Couture was the best of the day. I think all future brides should look towards this mostly white collection for inspiration. Riccardo Tisci is a genius when it comes to bead work. I don’t know how he does it. Thoughts? What was your favorite piece or collection so far? Photos from Style.com.

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Part 1

Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture

The Paris Fall 2011 Couture Shows are here again and beauty is among us. I am totally loving what I have seen so far. Alexis Mabille and Christian Dior brought the dramatics. If you are looking for a fantastical ball gown, stop there first. Anne Valerie Hash and Bouchra Jarrar showed the finer side of suiting for women by experimenting with neutral and bright shades. Giambattista Valli fell into a gap in between the other four designers by designing cake-like couture in a white, black, and pink palette.

So Long Paris, See Ya In September!

TFAS is now mobile.

Couture Fashion Week is basically over now. They have a few jewelery shows today, but that is about it. I can’t wait for RTW fashion week to begin in September. Aren’t you excited? Photos from Style.com

Jean Paul Gaultier’s collection was straight film noir vixen. Awesome turbans, exaggerated shoulders, and nipped waists were all on that runway. Then Dita von Teese came out and stripped burlesque style. I wish I was there to take in the atmosphere. One day Jai, one day.

The designers at Valentino made sure the collection was for the young at heart. Short babydoll dresses and kitten heels were popular themes throughout the collection. I have to say I actually like this collection better than the past collections that Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli and have done for the brand.

If the Valentino collection was for the young at heart, then the Elie Saab collection was for the sexually aware, yet classy woman. The collection was full of fiery reds, bare legs, and deep v-cut necklines. Elie Saab did not disappoint me at all. Between this collection and Dior, you really see what couture is all about. Oh and did anybody catch Karolina Kurkova walking the Elie Saab show? I guess it is safe to safe that the Victoria Secret models have successfully merged back from couture to commercial to couture again.
