So, last week I spoke with my fellow plus size ladies about shorts, and how to wear them, regardless of how they think they may look in them. This week, I’m going to get you all into dresses! I know that if you won’t wear shorts, you won’t wear a dress either, but hopefully that’s all going to change, right?
This week’s currently craving items are Fashion to Figure dresses. You’ve never heard of Fashion to Figure? No worries that is what I’m here for. Fashion to Figure is an affordable fashion retailer that is changing the way sizes 12-26 dress! There are several physical locations; hopefully one of them is near you!
There are so many dresses to choose from, however, I’m just going to choose my favorite four! Starting from the top left to the bottom right, we have:
1. Mackenzie Belted Stripe Dress – $34.50
2. Nanette Sheer Ponte Dress – $32.50
3. Sammy Floral Flare Dress – $38.50
4. Zig-Zag Print Dress – $26.50

The holidays are coming up quickly and everyone is looking for an appropriate, cute petite dress to wear for the fam. Luckily, these dresses can be found on 4 great sites; Anthropologie, Shop Ruche, Boohoo, and Dorothy Perkins. On Anthropologie, I found many options for the holidays. The dress I picked is fun, yet sophisticated and is called the Amalie Dress in Black. It is $248. In my opinion it is the perfect dress for any occasion. At Shop Ruche I saw the Hotel Brunch Belted Dress in Black. This dress is more affordable at $49.99. It is very conservative and formal, but can still be worn at a casual event.
1. ASOS Maxi Dress with Ruffle Sleeves
$103.43 now $56.89 2. ASOS MATERNITY Bandeau Cheesecloth Maxi $51.72 now $24.13 3. ASOS CURVE Exclusive Jersey Bandeau Maxi $51.72 now $25.86 4. ASOS PETITE Exclusive Printed Grosgrain Strap Maxi Dress $68.96 now $41.37
I love ASOS because you can find a lot of cute clothes, especially dresses, in most sizes.. The good thing about ASOS is that you can find something for most sizes with their ASOS main line, ASOS CURVE plus size line, ASOS Petite, and ASOS Maternity line. They have a ton of dresses in stock right now, and many of them are on sale.
Jump for joy because Saks Fifth Avenue’s Salon Z has quality plus size apparel. Woohoo! As a plus size shoppers, we often complain about the lack of cute plus size apparel that is made of high quality materials. Some plus size shoppers are tired of paying for cheaply made, cheaply priced apparel that does not last that long, and when we do find good quality plus size apparel…it is made for the older set.
Michael Kors’ Pre-Fall 2011 dresses are amazing. The collection was fantastic. I loved the colors, the cuts, everything, but these last three dresses really stood out. Pre-Fall is sold in the summer, so these dresses are perfect for that season. They have this Grecian look to them that looks very fashion forward to me even though they have been done over and over again. How do you feel about these dresses? I couldn’t pick a favorite. UPDATE: I wrote this post yesterday, and scheduled it for later. Today I have seen some amazing Pre-Fall collection over the internet, so I am going to make a best of post between now and the weekend.
Dorothy Perkins always has the hottest dresses, and this dress is proof. Not only is this dress £28.00, but it comes in straight and plus sizes. This is the ultimate day to night dress. Wear The Black Lace Yoke dress to work and then to a function later that night. Photo from Dorothy Perkins.
I would be so BANGING in this dress! Gotta find a cheaper version…STAT!

Having black in your wardrobe can really help because it does go with everything. These three dresses can take you from work to play. The accessories can go with any of the dresses below. It is a great idea to build a wardrobe with some funky fun pieces, but it is an even smarter idea to splurge on the basics. Nice basic pieces can go a long way, go with everything, and give you more options as far as shopping and building your wardrobe is concerned. It is also a great idea to have basics that vary in style or occasion, so you can come home slip into dressier shoes or go from a briefcase to a clutch.

I am trying to get better at taking these OOTD pics of myself. I am good at shooting others, but not myself. I am also trying to find time to take these pictures. I also recently posted some pics of myself to the Fatshionista Flickr page, so if you are a part of that group, go check them out!
As some of you know, ASOS recently came out with a plus size range called ASOS Curve
. It was actually launched on my birthday. I decided to wait to do a review of the line until I bought something, so I could accurately judge it. I also bought a new buffalo print tunic from Target’s Pure Energy
line. If you remember, my critique of the line wasn’t the nicest. Well they still have old unflattering hippie gear in stock, but they are starting to change the direction of the line. Well at least I think so. The newest pieces, like the one I bought, don’t really seem to go with the hippie theme the rest of the line has. Photos are from Target
This dress comes from ASOS Curve. I wore it with some Aldo pumps and We Love Colors tights. Honestly I am not impressed with this dress. Maybe if I had worn one of my bodyshapers, the dress would have fit more smoothly around the tummy and the bottom of the dress wouldn’t have tried to wrap in between my legs so much. In the original picture
, the waist is more cinched in and the bottom doesn’t cling as much. I am studying to be a stylist, so I know the proper foundation garment and some clips in the back of the dress probably would have made the dress fit like the picture. I will probably wear it to church or some kind of dressy function, but that is it.
#2- I love this dress because it is a cute spring dress. This dress looks so pretty in person. I can’t wait to wear it out. It is a little short in the back though. I think it is because the elastic waist band makes it ride up when I walk. Again that can be fixed with the proper bodyshaper. I wore this dress with the We Love Colors footless tights I reviewed last week and some Barney CO-OP shoes I got on sale from their website. Speaking of their website, they always have the best sales and the store’s famous warehouse sale is going on now in LA and NYC. I went to the one in NYC last year, and it was tresmazing. Anyway the one thing I will say about these ASOS Curve dresses is they may run a little snug. I don’t know how it would fit on you all because every body is different, but I wear a 20/22 in UK plus sizes. The dresses I bought were a 22, and they were a little snug. I will keep that in mind next time I shop the site.
#3- I really like this tunic I bought from Target. I didn’t really like any of the other Pure Energy items, but this tunic was cute and it fit true to size. I am going to wear it with jeans next time because it is still a little cold out here. I also think it is a great piece to wear year round. The colors really pop too and will brighten my wardrobe. I hope you all have a great weekend!
But I loved this dress at Dorothy Perkins, so I bought it. Plus it was on sale. Whatevs I liked, and that is all that matters! You can check out my review of my DP shopping experience here at Full Figure Plus.

I know brogues have been in style for a few seasons now, but I am finally getting into the trend. I always thought they were cute, but probably wouldn’t look right on me. Here is a picture of Sienna Miller wearing the Rupert Sanderson “Joyce” brogues with jeans and a long cardi. The shoes cost £345.00 which is about $563.69. Photos from Rupert Sanderson
I saw these two dresses on the Urban Outfitters’ website, and thought they would be perfect for these shoes. Everybody wants to wear heels with dresses, which is ok, but I think you can slide in some flatwear every now and then. Photos from Urban Outfitters.
I hope you all like the changes. I am working hard the make my blog as aesthetically pleasing as possible, so expect more changes.
