During fashion week, I went to the Blogger’s Night Out event. While there, I checked out the Plastics Make it Possible® booth. I took a textile class a few years ago in fashion school, and I vaguely remembered all of the ways plastic improved the fashion industry. Going to this booth and talking with the representatives brought it all back to me.
Plastics are in the fabrics that we wear, the sequins that hangs from our shirts, the material in our heels, and the laces of our shoes. Plastics are everywhere, and they are coming out with even more eco friendly materials as well. The lovely people at Plastics Make it Possible® is giving away a $250 gift card, just for voting for a favorite fashion look made possible by plastic. Check it out! Photo from here.
The Academy of Art University Graduate show was amazing. These students were so great. I loved all of the indiviual collections. I can’t wait to graduate with these students in May. I wish them all the best and good luck. View the video for the entire show.
The Sachin + Babi show was great. The design duo showed a hot jewel tone and leather based collection that will be perfect for young starlets like Rihanna or Selena Gomez. The strategic cut outs and designs on the garments were fun, young, and hip. I can’t wait to see this collection on the red carpet.
This collection of fur, leather, and other sumptuous fabric was as close to a couture collection as you could get in America. Norisol Ferrari showed a collection that was full of technical prowess and fantastical design. One of the Coco and Breezy twins showed up to model among the mannequins as well. The presentation and dimmed lighting really showed the beauty in the clothes.
Today I went to the Library at the Hudson Hotel to see the Hyden Yoo Fall/Winter 2012 mens and women’s collections. The olde English library themed bar was the perfect place to show the preppy clothes. Men wore muted browns and greys, flannel wool cotton twills, leather, shearling, blazers, and toggle coats. Women wore colorful fuchsias and blues, silks, jersey, suede, and wool.
Both collections for the men and women had prints. The men wore plaid and the ladies wore floral print. The men’s collection also included blazers with removable shearling collars and trench coats. This was another fine collection by Hyden Yoo. He is really going to be big. I can feel it.
This is a sideways picture of my clothes rack that I took with my cellphone. Ugh! I am having the worst time packing for this trip. the weather has been wonky in NYC. I looked at the weather for this week adn the next 10 days, they said it is going to be cold. Last February, it was cold and then it got a little warm. I guess I should just pack for all for seasons, but still pack mostly warm things because it is still a NYC winter. Meanwhile was in the 70s yesterday here in SC.
