Beauty Bit-Golden Eyeshadow Christmas Makeup Tutorial

Beauty Bit

You guys! I have a beauty confession to make. I have been wearing golden looking eyes for the past few weeks. I guess it started around Thanksgiving. I just can’t stop applying gold eyeshadow to my eyes. I did it last year for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I only put gold eyeshadow on my eyes a few times since then. It has now become a problem since I wear it everyday. I can blend the gold with black eyeshadow or brown eyeshadow. I can use pink or purples too. I even use my illuminators as eyeshadow. I just put a primer on first. This tutorial from Shaaanxo is a nice golden eyeshadow look for Christmas, any holiday, or any day period. I guess I will be doing this tomorrow.

Beauty Bit-Cute Holiday Copper and Red Holiday Party Makeup

I love this copper and red colored makeup tutorial from NikkiTutorials on YouTube. This is the perfect look for a holiday party. I can’t think of a more beautiful look to wear with a little black dress. I feel like this look is so shiny on its own that maybe the outfit could be toned down or understated, non? Oui! Anywho. How do you feel about this tutorial? I want to try it right now!

Beauty Bit- How to Cover Hyperpigmentation and Acne Scars

Beauty Bit

Today’s Beauty Bit is about how to cover hyperpigmentation and acne scars with makeup. I know a lot of women, black and white, have issues with discolorations on their face. I am one of them. These two tutorials below should help women with different skin tones mask the hyperpigmentation and acne scars.

DIY: How to Make A Custom Lip Palette and Customizable Lip Color

I am so loving this DIY tutorial on how to make a custom lip palette and custom lip color from AprilAthena7. I really want to try this. I don’t have an old palette case, but I did find some lip gloss containers at Coastal Scents. They always seem to have make up supplies. This is a great way to recycle old lipsticks that you just can’t throw away. I know I hate to lose the last little bit of my favorite lip color.

How To Fill In Your Eyebrows

I was at my friend’s house recently, and the conversation turned to filling in eyebrows. Even though my friend has great brows, I suddenly realized that filling in your eyebrows can become somewhat of a scary art school project, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Thankfully GossMakeupArtist came up with a great tutorial for filling in your eyebrows that is easy peasy lemon squeezy. Check it out!

Fashion Week: Max Azria Beauty/ Get The Look

So for fashion week this year I will be covering makeup trends and how to do them as well as the top models who walked this season. The first makeup tutorial I would like to spotlight is for Max Azria’s Spring RTW line. It’s a very natural look with a little tint of color in the lips. Natural makeup is one of my favorite types because it looks effortless but also let’s people know you care enough to enhance your already lovely features.

The Things You’ll Need for This Look:

A Light Moisturizer– I chose DDF Ultra Light Dew Moisturizer
A Primer– I chose Smashbox Photo Finish
A Brightener– It’s actually made for under the eye but I use it on my upper cheek bone to add a little light.
A Liquid Concealer– I chose Smashbox High Definition Healthy Foundation
A Powder Foundation– I chose Bare Minerals in Medium including the Mineral Veil to reflect light and give a more even poreless finish.
A Skin Toned Blush– I chose to use the warmth from My Bare Minerals set because it isn’t pink but still adds definition to the cheekbone
Light Gold Eyeshadow & A Shade of Darker Brown– I chose the YSL quad with gold, brown, plum, and blue(not used).
A Mascara and Mascara Base– I chose a Lancome mascara base and used Bad Girl by Benefit Mascara.
An Eyebrow Pencil Or Filler Compact– I chose a Chanel eyebrow pencil
A Lip Tint or Stain– I chose Maybelline Color Sensational in Feelin’ Rosy.
A Plain Gloss (optional)– I chose LipFusion plumping gloss because I have small lips.
Makeup Brushes I chose a max concealer brush for problem areas, a max coverage kabuki brush for optimum coverage, a lighter kabuki brush for the mineral veil, and a feather light brush for my blush max all from Bare Minerals. I also used 2 MAC brushes for my eyeshadow. A medium flat for the lid’s base and a very small flat used to line the upper eyelid.

Step 1:
Take your moisturizer and apply lightly to the entire face.

Step 2:
Add some brightener under the eye if you have any dark circles or just want to add a luminous touch.

Step 3:
Take your primer and also apply this to the entire face. Make sure to only use small dot amounts and don’t over apply as this will make your face feel wet which will be bad for the powder based concealer.

Step 4:
Next take your liquid foundation and apply it to your problem areas or your whole face depending on how even your skin tone is. I always apply my foundation to my entire face just to ensure that my skin tone is even and it also makes the powder foundation look more even and allows it to stay on better.

Step 5:
Now take max concealing brush and apply it to your problem areas and under your eyes. Dab it lightly and even out the power around the area you’re covering.

Step 6:
Next take your larger Kabuki brush or foundation brush and cover the rest of your face. Apply in a circular motion for maximum coverage. Do this lightly as pressing hard can cause your skin to turn slightly red or irritated (especially if you have sensitive skin like me). Remember to apply a little powder under your jawline and onto your neck so it doesn’t look two-toned.

Step 7:
Take your lighter larger brush and apply a light reflecting powder like the mineral veil on your upper cheekbones, chin, nose, and forehead. This adds more dimension to your face and also reflects light to minimize the pores.

Step 8:
Now take your feather light brush or very light brush and apply some blush starting from the hairline right below the top of your cheekbone and bring it in until you reach the outer point of where your eye is. Do not bring it all the way over onto the front of the face. Keep it to the sides. Also apply it lightly because you don’t want it to be too dark but more so natural.

NOTE: If you want to highlight your brush take a little brightener and dab it onto your upper cheekbone very lightly.

Step 9:
Take your medium flat eyeshadow brush and apply some gold shadow to the base of your eyelid. Apply generously but not TOO generously. Bring the eyeshadow out from the corner of your eyes slightly but not too much. Make sure to keep your area straight and don’t stray too far up or too far down. You can also apply a lighter color eyeshadow closer to the brown to highlight the eye if you prefer. Keep it light though.

Step 10:
Take your very small flat. This brush is used more for lining and not covering. Take a nice shade of brown that isn’t to dark and line your upper lashline with it to add a little bit of darkness. If you want it to be a little darker use a darker shade of brown to line it once again. I chose to use the plum in my YSL quad because when it’s mixed with the brown you can barely tell it has a purple tint.

Step 11:
Once your finished with your shadow, take your mascara base and apply it to your upper eyelashes only. Once it’s dry apply your regular mascara lightly. Make sure it doesn’t clump and none of your lashes stick together. We want your lashes to look as natural as possible. if anything they need to look tinted dark not full of volume.

Step 12:
Once your eyes are done move to the eyebrows. I simply lined and filled mine with the Chanel eyebrow pencil but if you’re using a filling compact take a very small brush and fill them with a nice natural shade of brown. Use a lighter brown on the outer edges around the brown to make it look more shaded rather than very dark and bold.

Step 13:
Last take your lip tint or stain and apply lightly to the lips. Make sure the stain is a lighter pink and nothing too dark. Keep it within the natural bounds. Be conscious of your lip line and make sure not to go outside of it or else the stain will make it look like you have liner on. To make the stain even rub lightly with your finger for even coverage. You can either leave the stain plain and matte finished or apply a little gloss like I did to add some shine.

And there you have it. A great natural look that can be worn anyday.
