Bond No. 9 New York sent me their newest fragrance to review. Bond No. 9’s perfumes are inspired by New York City, and the newest fragrance is inspired by Central Park West. Central Park West is inspired by the tree lined streets and vintage apartment buildings on the Upper West Side. The fragrance notes start with narcissus, ylang ylang, and pepper. Then in the middle you have orris, jasmine, linden, and gardenia. To round off the scents, the notes end with white oak, vetiver, and musk.
The reason I am in love with this scent is because it smells light and fresh, but the pepper and musk give it this dark bite. I love dark scents. Light scents usually make my head hurt, but because of the blend of dark notes this scent is very doable for lovers of dark, warm scents. I can’t wait to wear this. I have to hide it from my mom because she wants to steal it from me. Central Park West launches March 15 and will be sold at Bond No. 9’s five New York stores, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and bondno9.com. Price: 100ml, $250; 50ml, $180; body silk, $130; candle, $110; shower gel, $75.
I got up really early today, and got on a 6am flight to NYC. I tried to get a nap after I got in because I knew I had a busy day, but I wasn’t feeling too hot. Well the sudden cold snap back home and the cold snap here in NYC, combined with the humid rain, has really done a number on my body. I just stayed in bed the rest of the afternoon. I need to rest my body up. Continue Reading
Hey Everyone! Fashion Week starts today, and I will be going to the IFB Conference to learn how to make my blog better from the inside out! Last night I went to a tweet-up with fellow bloggers, stylists, designers, and other industry people. I can’t wait to show you the clothes this designer I met made. They are really great! I will try to blog from my phone tomorrow. We will see how great this WordPress for BB app is. No promises though.
Here is a little something to hold you over until I can edit the blog properly.
I’m sooo excited! If you have been reading my blog for the past year and some change, you would know that I love NYC, and I plan on moving there. I also told you guys that one of my goals is to go to New York Fashion Week!
Tomorrow I leave on a super early flight to go to New York City. I may not be going to many shows, but I will report from my graduate school’s fashion show. They are they only fashion school in the country to show at the tents. You can view the live stream on September 10th, 2010 at 5 pm PST. I will also visit two different showrooms. I am also trying to meet up with some of my blogger friends, and I will attend the IFB Emerging Influence Conference. I am making the most of my week.
Living in New York City you have to a have an appreciation for vintage. Although I’m a trendy shopper every now and then I enjoy frequent trips with my girlfriends to consignment shops all around the city. Recently, I caught this really cute vintage 1982 Christian Dior cropped checked blazer on one of my vintage hunts and believe it or not the label wasn’t what caught my attention about the jacket. It was the enormous and extra sleek shoulder pads that caught my eye.
I’ve been eyeing a blazer with shoulder pads for a minute now, and since the Balmain military style jackets worn my Beyonce and the legendary/greatly missed Michael Jackson are beyond my budget. I searched all around for a cute and reasonably priced one of a kind blazer.
What I really love about the shoulder padded look is the effect it does to the most simplest outfits. An ordinary outfit such as a v-neck and jeans could become a sleek and stylish ensemble when paired with the right accessory; and the super 1980s shoulder pads is that accessory. Don’t agree with me take a look at Kim Kardashian or Beyoncé and you’ll change your mind. Photos from People Style Watch and Karmaloop.

Hey everyone! I had a great trip to New York City. A post about my travels is coming soon. The only thing I regret is the fact that it rained up there, so I couldn’t use my good camera to take good pics. I do have some slightly fuzzy cell phone pics though. Mom and I had a blast! I can’t wait to go back again.
Back to buisness. School starts next week. I hope you all enjoyed the scheduled post I put up in advance. Would you dare to wear an Alexander Wang sweater with a tank top from Target? This week’s Bad Bish post is also going to double as next week’s post, and guess what………IT IS A MAAAAAAN!!!!! I don’t know who he is, but I found him on Jak and Jil. He is smoking hot, right? I love scruffy art school types, but I can’t help but love a man who takes the time to get his clothes tailored.
I am off to NYC later this afternoon, but don’t fret. I still have scheduled posts lined up for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
I just finished my summer job/internship the Columbia Urban League. That leaves me with two weeks before school starts again, and now in a few days I will be in the Big Apple. YAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!! I can’t wait to eat, shop, eat, shop, and of course, walk, walk, walk. I miss the city so much, so I am beyond excited. I hope the weather is good. I heard the weather in NYC has been crazily off and on this summer. The posts that will be up will be scheduled. I am not sure if I will take my laptop yet, so I may or may not be behind on blog comments. I will still be on twitter and email unless my phone goes wonky. I can wait to post my pics and tell you all about what happened. Photo by me.
So I finally got a chance to take some pictures with my Nikon D60. I can’t wait to show you some of my new shots. I have shots of flowers, a park, and shots of buildings. In the meantime, I have some more shots of New York City that I want to show you. I took these when I lived there two years ago. I can’t wait until August. Mom and I are planning a trip to NYC. Hopefully we make it there so I can take shots with my new camera.
I’m bringing back the I Love Photography posts. The first picture was taken at Grand Central Station the last week I lived in New York City, and the second picture was taken down the street from Macy’s. I looked up and saw this sky walk. I really want to go back and take some more pictures of it. As usual, I am asking for a critique so I can improve my photography skills. Here is a link to a previous I Love Photography post.
Here is another photograph that I took. I got honorable mention in a local paper with this one. I took it while I lived in NYC in 2007. It is called “Graffiti.” Tell me what you think. As a photographer, I am constantly changing as far as my direction and vision goes. Doesn’t she kind of look like Rosario Dawson? Update: I revised my photo. Here is another I Love Photography post
