Paris Couture F/W 12 Was Beautiful As Usual

Paris Couture F/W 12

Paris Couture Week F/w 12 has basically ended and it was as beautiful as ever! I really enjoyed most of the collections this season! This couture season was very exciting for several reasons. First off Kimye or Kim Kardashian and Kanye West showed up and showed out by causing mass hysteria and mini pandemonium during the three or four days they were in Paris. Apparently even a child got pushed around in the mayhem. They even pissed off some editors and the like for showing up to the Stephane Rolland show one hour late. They were so late that they barely made it to the finale. SMH! Then we saw an overabundance of V-necks and cape dresses on the runway. I think those are two trends I can live with.

Spring 2012 Couture Gets Girly

Elie Saab, Valentino, and Jean Paul Gaultier showed either preciously pastel or rowdy rock and roll inspired collections. Elie Saab showed dainty pastels that would be perfect for the upcoming Oscars. Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri created flowery printed gowns perfect for the girlest girly girl. Jean Paul Gaultier’s new couture collection was inspired by Amy Winehouse, so you know it is perfect for any beehived diva! I am really enjoying the couture gowns this season. They are so beautiful! Spring 2012 Couture Brings The Embellishments

Yesterday’s couture shows proved that embellishments are in. From crocodile skins to shiny fabrics and ombre colors, there is nothing plain about these clothes. Karl Lagerfeld used every single shade of blue imaginable. Richardo Tisci used reptile skins in the craziest ways. Giorgio Armani’s fabric shined through a dark runway set. I can see a lot of ready to wear trends in this week’s couture shows. I wonder what the designers are going to show next. Photos from Style.com.

Alaïa, Alaïa, Alaïa Fall 2011 Couture

Azzedeine Alaïa Fall 2011 Couture

Azzedine Alaïa’s Fall 2011 Couture showing has been just as magical as I thought it would be. If you recall last week, I was patiently waiting to see Alaïa’s first fashion show in 8 years and show it here. When the photos finally came out, I was out in the street running errands. I felt like I had waited a century, but it was all worth it. The croc-stamped leather, knitwear the hugged the curves of the body, and the heavy felted wool. I died Rachel Zoe style at all of Azzedeine Alaïa Fall 2011 Couture’s sexy looks. Check out these pics from Style.com.

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Week Part 2

Chanel Fall 2011 couture

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Week is still rolling along with a few shows yesterday by the big dogs. Chanel, Armani Prive, and Givenchy showed yesterday, and as you can imagine, they were out of sight. Chanel is usually hit or miss for me. There is only so much you can do with the Chanel aesthetic, but Karl Lagerfeld managed to make cool starry night, cosmos themed couture with light shoes too. Armani Prive was just ok to me. There were some definite knockout pieces, but the prints were a little much for me.  I love Asian inspired clothing, I just didn’t like how it was done here. Givenchy Couture was the best of the day. I think all future brides should look towards this mostly white collection for inspiration. Riccardo Tisci is a genius when it comes to bead work. I don’t know how he does it. Thoughts? What was your favorite piece or collection so far? Photos from Style.com.

Paris Fall 2011 Couture Part 1

Giambattista Valli Fall 2011 Couture

The Paris Fall 2011 Couture Shows are here again and beauty is among us. I am totally loving what I have seen so far. Alexis Mabille and Christian Dior brought the dramatics. If you are looking for a fantastical ball gown, stop there first. Anne Valerie Hash and Bouchra Jarrar showed the finer side of suiting for women by experimenting with neutral and bright shades. Giambattista Valli fell into a gap in between the other four designers by designing cake-like couture in a white, black, and pink palette.
