Spring 2011 Couture shows roll on with Elie Saab, John Paul Gaultier, and Givenchy.
Elie Saab’s show was so beautiful. The light colors of pastel pinks, purples, and reds combined with the intricate detail work on the dresses reminded me of a secret garden. I can see a lot of red carpet moments with these gowns. The Oscars are a few days away… let’s see if anyone will get a special dress flown in.

From The Cut:
Exciting reminder: The fall 2010 couture collections begin July 5, which is only two weeks from today! And a little bit of a downer, but easy to get over once you understand the reasoning: Givenchy won’t show its couture collection on the runway. Also, their new collection will only consist of ten looks, less than half of the label’s spring 2010 couture collection, which included 22 looks, described by Suzy Menkes as “a wild rave of evening clothes.” Instead, the label will invite editors and clients to view the collection — which will include no black, Tisci says — in private appointments beginning July 6, held in a fabulous eighteenth-century townhouse on the Place Vendôme in Paris.

This actually makes total sense. Actually this is like the old school way of showing clothes and couture. As much as I would love to see a fashion show, I am pretty sure Style.com will have the pics up in no time.

Apparently Ricardo Tisci is using a transsexual model for the new Givenchy ad campaign. I know some people will love this idea and some people will hate it. What I want people to realize is the fact that this is nothing new and no I am not talking about Isis from ANTM. The fashion industry has had transsexual models work the runways and do things like this before. You just never knew about it because it wasn’t something that was publicized. I like the ads, and have no problems with the fashion world using transsexual models.Tell me your thoughts on this. I want to know how you feel.
The new Givenchy ad campaign is breaking boundaries by using a transexual model in the photos. Riccardo Tisci has cast transexual model Lea T. in the fall/winter campaign for the fabulous brand. Lea has known Tisci for a long time, being his personal assistant, and is also a former fit model. Tisci also explains that the use of Lea further adds to the female-male dichotomy that he has always tried to play up in the brand’s advertisements. I think the photos came out beautifully and I am so glad to see all people being represented in advertisements. Now we have plus size models and transexual models gracing the pages of magazines, it’s definitely a sign of the time we live in.
