From poppies at Erdem, red roses at Prada, and dandelions at Christopher Kane, the runways were in full bloom for spring and summer as floral prints came out to play en masse.
Springtime means only one thing on the sartorial calendar: florals, and lots of them. The s/s 12 runways were awash with decorative and whimsical patterns on lace and organza, ushering in the new season’s buzzwords: gorgeous girlieness. The look was defiantly pretty, with beaded and applique numbers at Moschino Cheap and Chic and Prada. Gorgeous floral stickers lay under organza sheaths at Christopher Kane whilst sunflowers sat on tulle at Rodarte.
I love bright blazers. They are the best thing to go from dreary winter to bright spring. Bright blazers look great on every skin tone, and they work best with every shape. I mean have you ever seen someone in a bright blazer that looked a complete hot mess? I haven’t. Try the trend yourself with some of the options above. Photos from Forever 21+ and ASOS.
Old Navy’s Women’s Twist-Front Wedges are the perfect spring/summer shoe. It is trendy and classic all at the same time. The wedge comes in yellow or white and originally cost $29.95. Now it is on sale for $25.00. Photo from Old Navy.
Verlaine SS12, designed by Javier Garcia and Christine Dow, has got to be one of the prettiest collections I’ve seen in a long while. The collection looks like a post-apocalyptic spring of cool, neutral tones and tailored fabric blended with a feminine sexuality. The draping and subtle details really make the eyes move across the garments. I can’t wait to see what these talented designers do next.
Ahhh, spring is near. The sun is a little brighter, the grass is a little greener, and the scent of fresh blooms is in the air. It’s officially time to transition your closet from heavy winter garb to light spring frocks. But if you’re like me, you want to pinch your pennies this spring, because maybe you’re saving for a fabulous spring break trip, or you have tons of weddings to go to (like me). I’m going to share three of my favorite trends for spring — and show you how to get the looks for less!
Shop Belina has released their new Hints of Spring Collection. I find this to be totally appropriate considering all of the spring weather we have been having here on the East Coast. The collection is light and airy, and very affordable. Nothing is over $100, so you can shop until you drop.
I am really enjoying the Spring 2012 collection from Yansi Fugel. It is so gorgeous! The collection is packed with bright colors, cool fabrics, bold patterns, and easy breezy silhouettes. Everything is just so youthful and fun for spring. The Spring 2012 collection also features laser cut fabric patterns, hand painted fabrics, reversible construction, and digital printing.
My favorite pieces are the dresses and the tunics. I am also a major fan of the cobalt blue pants. I just bought some jeans like in that color the other day. Two of the things I always love about this brand is the fact that it is very packable. You can take it anywhere and it just looks so good. I also love how the separates can be mixed and matched with other items. Yansi Fugel clothes are great closet fillers that you can pull out at anytime. Photos from Yansi Fugel.
During my last few days in New York City, I went to Center 548 in Chelsea for The Blonds SS12 fashion show. The room was full of drag queens, Muscle Marys, and celebrities like Bam Margera, Amanda Lepore, Patricia Field, Johnny Weir, and much, much more. The Blonds are known for fun, so the super hot crowd was ready to party. Continue Reading
