Most plus size women are afraid to wear shorts because of how their legs and/or thighs may look in them (don’t worry, I’ll add in a few shorts that aren’t so short). However, with the spring season in full effect and summer not too far behind, it’s time to get over your fear of shorts; if not be prepared to die from a heatstroke! (Just kidding!)
During the last day of Charleston Fashion Week, I got up super early and headed out to Charleston Weddings Magazine’s Spring Bridal Show. I got to see a lot of bridal fashion from local boutiques. If you are planning a wedding, Charleston is definitely a great place to check out some fancy gowns for you or your bridesmaids. The trends seem to be the traditional white and cream, and the completely unconventional and daring pale pink and red. Watch the video from the Emerging Bridal Designer Contest winner Calvin James Bryant’s collection. It was fabulous. If I were getting married, he would definitely be someone I would be interested in working with. I hope you all enjoyed my Charleston Fashion Week coverage. As you can see I am still trying to recover and unpack from the week of events.
You would think I would be used to heat since I was born and raised in the South, but I can’t take it. I just can’t. If you read my questionnaire the other day, you would know that I like dressing myself in the cooler months. You can layer and be more creative with what you wear. When I went into the American Apparel store downtown a few weeks ago, I saw the perfect items for my fall wardrobe. I can see myself wearing these pieces daily. I plan on buying them in August.
The Two Pieces I Can’t Wait To Wear:
Unisex Bat Wing Hoody- $39.00
It comes in various fabrics and colors, but I am leaning toward the thicker Black/White Composition one. It looks like it would keep me warm for days.
Unisex Matte Faux Leather Hoodie-$60.00
There is something so bad ass about a leather jacket. It reminds me of a motorcycle gang or the boys from Justice. Either way this hoody looks hot, and I am going to rock it to the fullest.
P.S. I got a job working at the Urban League doing PR and things of that nature. I had my first day on Monday, and it was pretty good. School is also kicking my butt, but I will get over it. Wish me luck! I also haven’t been on Looklet in awhile. I had to ween myself off of it. BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!
There are too many spring fashion trends to count. How are you suppose to count all the trends that 100s of designers put each spring? Well you start with what colors stood out. For some reason, the only colors that popped were light grays, pinks, creams, and yellows. Jeans could range anywhere from skinny skinny jeans to wide boyfriend jeans. Spring dresses will be light and airy with lots of ruffles. Also look for oversized accessories from huge purses to huge necklaces. As the spring cool turns into the spring heat, jackets will be de rigueur for anyone who wants to layer a look, especially jackets with a slim fit and cuffed sleeves. Last but not least, structured heels are still a must.
