Shoe of the Week- Block Heel Sandals From Target

Block Heel Sandal

Block Heel Sandal

I have really been loving all of the block heel sandals lately. This summer the shortened block heel is in. They are usually around 1-2 inches, but don’t look like a kitten heel. They are also easier on the feet than the skinnier heel no matter what height they come in. This particular pair of block heel sandals comes in three colors from Target. Although the Black and Cognac are nice, I think the Neutral colored pair is a very laid back look. The Mossimo heel has a few studs near the toe, and was $29.99. If you act quickly, you can get the shoe on sale for $25.48. Add the shoe to your summer wardrobe today.

Currently Craving Infinity Scarves

infinity scarf

infinity scarf

These past weeks have seen some icy weather, and that calls for some infinity scarves. I love infinity scarves this time of year because they warm the neck and can cover the face. I know plenty of people up north that could use these types of scarves. I always say that if you aren’t going to knit or crochet your own, you should stop by Target. Target always has the best selection on infinity scarves every year. The prices are always right too. Infinity scarves are on sale this week. Go out and get yours before the next winter storm.

Missoni Is Coming To A Target Near You

MissoniThat great Italian label Missoni is coming to a Target near you on September 13th. This will be the biggest designer collaboration for the discount chain with over 400 pieces of clothing, housewear, and accessory items for sale. I, for one, cannot wait to see this collection. I mean who doesn’t want a little piece of Missoni at discount prices. What do you think about Missoni at Target? Are you excited? Photo from Style.com.

Pure Energy From Target Is Looking Better and Better

As you may recall, when the Pure Energy line first came out at Target I butchered it. Then I warmed up to it. Now I think it is one of the the better plus size lines at Target. They have great basics, and some trend heavy pieces too. The Pure Energy line is under $50 in price, so you won’t break the bank in style. Another great thing is that this line goes up to a size 30 instead of a size 24 like other plus size lines. Now if only they would put the plus size section in a more prominent part of the store instead of it being squeezed between Maternity and the dressing rooms.

Check out a few of my favorite pieces:

Halloween Costumes For Everyone

Plus Size Halloween Costumes
Halloween costumes are fun, sexy, cute, and for everyone.  There are so many option and websites. Making this blog post made my head spin. If you are straight sized or plus sized , you will probably be able to find something you like. The possibilities are endless. I was able to find cute costumes from Halloween Express, Hips & Curves, Target, and Torrid. Be sure to check out Simon Doonan’s, Barney’s creative director, Halloween Costume collection for Target. I am not really the sexy costume type so I tend to wear safer costumes. I am thinking about being a sailor, but I’m not so sure. What are you going to be? New Shoes Up At TFAS Shop!

My Favorite Makeup Products

TFAS is now mobile.
These are some of my favorite beauty products. I love these items and use them whenever I wear makeup. I also recommend these items to anyone. Please tell me your favorite beauty items in the comments below.

I would be nowhere without the MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer since I have hyperpigmentation. This concealer is strong enough to cover tattoos, yet it doesn’t feel heavy on my face.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 Foundation is the best liquid foundation I have ever used. I keep trying to find others, like an idiot, but I can’t find any that can blend into my skin, even my skin tone, and make my skin look so smooth. I get sooo many compliments from this foundation.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this mascara. I used to use LashExact by CoverGirl, but now I am a devoted lover of the CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Blasting Mascara. This mascara makes my eyelashes so full and bright. I always get the Very Black to match my black eyelashes. Get this so your eyes can really pop.

Next up is my favorite set of blushes. BH Cosmetics are known for making some great highly pigmented eyeshadows that are perfect for day and night. I love them so much, but their blush set is even better. The blushes are so pigmented that I barely have to put much on, and they last all day. My cheeks end up looking so rosy and full of life.

Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray has helped my makeup stay fresh throughout this hot, hot summer. I could sweat buckets of water and it wouldn’t even matter. After my sweat dries off, my skin still has that matte oh she just put makeup on look, and you can’t beat that.

Last I want to show you the best investment any girl can make on makeup products. For $9.99 you can go to Target or Target.com and get the Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge. All you have to do is wet the sponge a little, dab it in your liquid makeup (I use it religiously with my liquid foundation), and blend it on your face. I promise you will have airbrushed looking skin.

    OOTD # Two

Please support The Fat and Skinny Shop!
I am trying to get better at taking these OOTD pics of myself. I am good at shooting others, but not myself. I am also trying to find time to take these pictures. I also recently posted some pics of myself to the Fatshionista Flickr page, so if you are a part of that group, go check them out!
As some of you know, ASOS recently came out with a plus size range called ASOS Curve. It was actually launched on my birthday. I decided to wait to do a review of the line until I bought something, so I could accurately judge it. I also bought a new buffalo print tunic from Target’s Pure Energy line. If you remember, my critique of the line wasn’t the nicest. Well they still have old unflattering hippie gear in stock, but they are starting to change the direction of the line. Well at least I think so. The newest pieces, like the one I bought, don’t really seem to go with the hippie theme the rest of the line has. Photos are from Target and ASOS.

#1- This dress comes from ASOS Curve. I wore it with some Aldo pumps and We Love Colors tights. Honestly I am not impressed with this dress. Maybe if I had worn one of my bodyshapers, the dress would have fit more smoothly around the tummy and the bottom of the dress wouldn’t have tried to wrap in between my legs so much. In the original picture, the waist is more cinched in and the bottom doesn’t cling as much. I am studying to be a stylist, so I know the proper foundation garment and some clips in the back of the dress probably would have made the dress fit like the picture.  I will probably wear it to church or some kind of dressy function, but that is it.
#2- I love this dress because it is a cute spring dress. This dress looks so pretty in person. I can’t wait to wear it out. It is a little short in the back though. I think it is because the elastic waist band makes it ride up when I walk. Again that can be fixed with the proper bodyshaper. I wore this dress with the We Love Colors footless tights I reviewed last week and some Barney CO-OP shoes I got on sale from their website. Speaking of their website, they always have the best sales and the store’s famous warehouse sale is going on now in LA and NYC. I went to the one in NYC last year, and it was tresmazing. Anyway the one thing I will say about these ASOS Curve dresses is they may run a little snug. I don’t know how it would fit on you all because every body is different, but I wear a 20/22 in UK plus sizes. The dresses I bought were a 22, and they were a little snug. I will keep that in mind next time I shop the site.
#3- I really like this tunic I bought from Target. I didn’t really like any of the other Pure Energy items, but this tunic was cute and it fit true to size. I am going to wear it with jeans next time because it is still a little cold out here. I also think it is a great piece to wear year round. The colors really pop too and will brighten my wardrobe.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Target Has Gone Designer Collab Crazy

    Happy Martin Luther King Day!!!!

Target has really gone designer collaboration crazy! Coming up in the next few months are the collections by Zac Posen and Jean Paul Gaultier. Out of these collections, I love the JPG one the best. The trench coat and motorcycle jackets are tresmazing! Zac Posen’s line looks good if you are into that thing. I like Zac Posen, but his collection looks like a mix and match of things, more mix/matchy than usual. Photos from Refinery29 and Fashionista.com.

    From Refinery29:

Yesterday’s camera-phone sneak peek of the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection led us to our receiving the actual lookbook. The original editorial from Elle—not Vogue—played a few tricks on us. There’s no lace paneling, no sheer-topped dresses, there’s a big cartoon anchor on that striped top, and that $40 trench is actually $59.99 (still affordable for just how adorable it is). But what can we expect when the line drops on March 7th? A hodgepodge of styles, really. At times the looks can look sweet, ranging from prim floral A-line skirts to bustier tops with a chipper, sailor’s neckline. But other times the looks can be positively head-scratching. The last time pin stripes and “tattoo-print” dresses appeared on our monitors was when we were watching old episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on Hulu. Prices range from $17.99 for swimsuit separates to $199 for those sick leather jackets. Click through for all the looks!

    From Fashionista.com:

If yesterday’s blurry Gaultier for Target image left you unsatisfied, here’s the complete Zac Posen for Target lookbook.

The collection’s 100% Zac, made for a woman who likes to dress up, but might not have a red carpet to walk every other week.

It’s mostly dresses, highlights include a sleeveless floral mini with a massive side bow ($74), a well-cut purple polka-dot number with thick seams ($39), and the long printed gown at left ($69).

Swimsuits come in gold lame ($40) and tie dye (so do tees), skirts are basic black in flouncy cuts ($40) and Zac’s even included a slim black suit ($90).

You’ll have to wait until April 25th to buy it, but click through to see the whole collection.

    Should I Be Shocked….

    Photo from The Coveted.

This collaboration between Target and Rodarte was so hyped up it was crazy. They even had a video featuring Tavi and other fashion insiders praising the collection. The pictures were styled so beautifully, but I walked into my store yesterday and was shocked that our store decided to carry it and shocked that it was made so poorly. Before you say “it’s Target”, other designer collab collection production seemed much better than I thought it would be for many of the other collections. I know people, including myself, who still wear items from four years ago. This collection while cute in theory will probably not last four years if you wore it out once a year and washed it in baby detergent. Sorry to say that, but I was sorely disappointed. Don’t let my critique scare you off. Go check it out and see if your store hasn’t sold out of certain pieces. I have already heard tales of pieces being sold out. I know my store didn’t have some items and it was picked over.

    Yippe Skippee

From NBC New York’s The Thread:

It’s been confirmed that Gaultier will be the newest Designer Collaboration with big box Target, releasing an exclusive lower priced collection to a limited number of 250 stores and online March 7, 2010.

Bringing truth to the whole in-like-a-lion thing, Gaultier’s March collection for Target, as a Designer Collaboration – which is different than the Go International program, which always confuses us, too – is set to “celebrate the American woman” and her ties to pop culture, as in, Madonna’s iconic 80s look as produced by Gaultier himself.

As we know, Gaultier is the man who pushed the envelope on the runway and has pioneered the overt sexuality of high fashion. What that means for Target as a mass retailer, we’re just dying to find out.
