Check out Tyra Banks on the cover of Arise Magazine. I love this magazine. They actually carry this magazine in my local bookstore, so I might have to pick this one up. Photo from Design Scene.
Everyone (including my Dad who knows nothing about fashion) seems to know Andre Leon Talley because he’s everywhere these days. He’s on TV with Tyra Banks judging America’s Next Top Model, in Vogue magazine writing his monthly column and now he’s starring with Banks again for a set of informational fashion videos for her new website TypeF.com. But it wasn’t always this way.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of sitting in on a conference call with the lovely Karolina Kurkova. She was extremely nice and intelligent. She spoke about her time guest judging on tonight’s episode of America’s Next Top Model. What I loved about her was the fact that she said she spent over three hours with the contestants. She wanted them to get some advice about the modeling world. She also spoke to them at length about healthy eating. Karolina talked about how important it is for them to learn how to eat healthy now. I love how she told the girls that only eating a piece of lettuce and drinking a glass of water was not going to cut it. I honestly think she should come out with a cookbook, because she talk the girls how to make smoothies and she was telling all of us on the phone about what she likes to cook and make for snacks. I’d buy the book.
“AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL” # 1505 (Karolina Kurkova) Wednesday, October 6 at 8:00 –9:00 p.m. on THE CW.
SUPERMODEL KAROLINA KURKOVA IS THE GUEST JUDGE — Jay leads the girls to a tunnel in downtown Los Angeles where they walk in on a conveyor belt runway while wearing designs by Herve Leger. Andre drops by the house with a surprise guest, Karolina Kurkova, who speaks with the girls about healthy eating. This week’s photo shoot features the girls posing with wrestlers from Lucha Va Voom, a form of Mexican Mask Wrestling with photographers Eddie and Moshe Brakha. Kurkova joins the panel as this week’s guest judge during the elimination (#1505).
Tyra Banks announced on Twitter yesterday that her talk show is ending after the 5th season, which I think is weird since it just moved to the CW network. I have a love/hate relationship with Tyra. I am happy for all of the things that she has achieved, but I feel like she can seem somewhat phoney and fake at times.
According to People Magazine:
“This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” Banks tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”
Wrapping at the end of its fifth season in the spring of 2010, it will be lights out for the show that brought viewers memorable weave-exposing, cellulite-revealing and tear-jerking moments.
Banks will focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a N.Y.-based film production company currently reviewing possible projects. Sticking to her mission, Banks aims to bring “positive images of women to the big screen,” says an industry insider.
