So you guys know I can’t get enough of Lupita Nyong’o, and I guess you guys know I died three times when I saw her new Vogue Italia spread by Tom Munro. She looks like a fierce Grace Jones. I just can’t get over the styling and makeup in this editorial. I love how they let her natural skin color show. If you are not familiar with her, check out my outer posts on her here and here. I hope she wins her Oscar. Check out the rest of the spread on Black Keys.

Sending congratulations to Fei Fei Sun for being the first solo Asian model to cover Vogue Italia. The cover was shot by Steven Meisel. He always shoots the Vogue Italia covers. Fei Fei Sun looks great in the pictures inspired by photographer Richard Avedon and 60s model China Machado. Photos from Models.com.

This week Franca Sozzani, the EIC of Vogue Italia, was awarded France’s Légion d’Honneur. For the occasion, she wore Dolce and Gabbana. Congratulations!
Plus size models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley, grace this Steven Miesel Vogue Italia cover. This cover is so beautiful. I know some people will probably have a problem with plus size models being seen half naked and around food again, but the cover is so beautiful. I am so happy to see plus size models on the cover of a MAYJAH fashion magazine. As always, thought? Photo from Models.com.
Native New Yorker Patti Wilson is known the world over for her fantastical fashion styling. She began her career over 20 years ago but first gained international recognition for her work with i-D magazine in the mid 90s. Always one to push the boundaries of creativity by using vivid imagery and raw sexuality, Wilson has worked with many of today’s greatest fashion photographers including Steven Meisel, Steven Klein, Peter Lindbergh, Terry Richardson, Ellen von Unwerth, and David LaChapelle.
It was her work with LaChapelle that got her noticed by Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. Recently, Wilson styled a glamorous editorial for Sozzani called “Dress Code: Evening” shot by Miles Aldridge. The colorful images feature model Yasmin Warsame as the second coming of Donyale Luna in a Vidal Sassoon-style wig and colorful evening wear in an all-white luxury apartment. Check out the rest of the editorial here on The Fashion Spot.

Remember the Edward Enninful styled editorial, The Black Allure, I posted a few weeks ago with a ton of gorgeous black models in it? Well here is the video. I love, love, love it.
So after I first posted about the John Galliano suspension from Dior it looks like this video, of the designer using anti-Semitic slurs, has been discovered by The Sun newspaper in the UK.
There are some questions I have that need to be answered because the article wasn’t very clear to me:
- OK so this film was shot at La Perle, but is it from the same night as the incident?
- Who are the people in the video?
- Was he provoked? This seems to be what Vogue Italia thinks happened, but does it make it right?
While he does seem a little provoked, he shouldn’t have said those things. I am not a fan of racism. I mean who sits around and says “I love Hitler.” and talks about how you or your family would be “f*cking gassed” with a twinkle in their eye. That is some messed up ish if you ask me.
As always, more details to come, especially since the Dior show is right around the corner.
Video has been taken down.
It looks like Vogue Italia is doing the all black model thing again with The Black Allure editorial, and I am not upset. While I hate for this to be a gimmick, I am in love with this editorial. It features almost all of the top black models of today like Joan, Jourdan, Chanel, Sessilee, Ajak, Arlenis, and more. The editorial is so gorgeous. The colors, lighting, clothes, setting, and makeup are to die for! What do you think? Photos from Fashin.

I am digging these two covers for the June 2010 issue of Harpers Bazaar Russia and Vogue Italia. HBR features Astrid Munoz and VI features Supermodel Eva Herzigova. I love how different they look in style and the makeup is great too. Photos from Design Scene.

Umm sooo what is going on with Naomi Campbell? First she beat up her driver yesterday, and ran away. Now we find out that she was beating him up because he wouldn’t tell her if her boyfriend, who is still married, was cheating on her a year ago. Klawdamercy! Oh Naomi!

I love this photo with some of the most famous black models ever. It was taken for Vogue Italia’s first all black issue. Can you recognize some of the greats?

From Refinery 29:
Last year around this time, Vogue Italia impressed us on several levels with its “Black Issue, an edition of the vaunted mag featuring only beauties of African decent like Liya Kebede, Jourdan Dunn, and, of course, Naomi Campbell. As forceful and gorgeous a statement as that was, it might have to take a backseat to a new supplement stuffed into the latest issue of Italian Vogue—a mini-magazine that replicates the “Black Issue” with Barbies!!! Editrix Franca Sozzani has topped herself again. We mean, it would have been enough if it were just an issue showcasing Babs on the 50th anniversary of her creation, no matter the color of the dolls in question. But posing the “So In Style” models, which display more natural-looking black features, in pools, curled seductively on kinky couches, and flirty lingerie? Brava Signora Sozzani!
