This week I am going to be featuring a series of YouTube videos that helped my transition to natural hair. My natural hair journey wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be, and I really think that was because of the many YouTube videos that I watched every night. I have been natural for two years now, and I finally big chopped about one year and change into my journey. I know for some that may seem like an eternity when you are used to having relaxed hair. I hope this video series helps on your own natural hair journey.
I am so glad I found Nikkimae2003‘s tutorial on Curlformers. From there I went full on Curlformer whore and watched every video I could find. Then I bought the actual Curlformers from Sally Beauty and the bootleg ones from Amazon. I was addicted. Why? Because I am into low maintenace hair care and Curlformers are easy to do. Yes they take some time to get used to, but I love them. Just like the perm rods from yesterday’s post, you curl depends on which kind of Curlformer you use. There are fat ones and skinny ones and they both come in short or long lengths depending on your hair length.
I recommend going to your local Sally Beauty and trying out a pack. If you want to save money, they have cheaper sets on Amazon like the AGPtEK® 24pcs 21 inch Hair Curler Magic Hair Rollers Spiral Ringlets (No Heat,Natural Way,High-speed Changing Hair Style) or Beauty Bon® Spiral Ringlets Magic Leverage Circle Curl Former Stretched Length 50cm Hair Curler Pack of 40. To me they work just as well, however I would still use the stick that comes with the Curlformers Official Limited Edition Glam-up Kit for Spiral Curls
set. The other one is flimsy.
