TREND Report: Ajak Deng

This is by far one of my favorite TREND Report posts I’ve done.  And the reason: Ajak Deng.  Not only is she a street style goddess and fierce beauty on the runway, she is also a humble and gracious role model.

Angelique, better known as Ajak, fled to Kenya from her homeland of Sudan with her mother and seven siblings when she was just 12 years old.  After her mother passed away from malaria in the camp, Ajak and her siblings immigrated to Australia in 2005 under refugee status and there she finished school and started her modeling career.  Deng still financially supports her siblings.

Despite all odds against her, Ajak Deng has become a recognizable face around the world and she continues to shine in the world of fashion.  She is not only a role model off the catwalk, but is also someone whose style you should emulate and here’s how to do it:

Above: Yves Saint Laurent Oversized square frame sunglasses, Burberry Marbled-wash skinny jeans, Donna Karan Napa leather belt, Tara Matthews Rapture embellished leopard maxi dress; Red Valentino Tulle-embellished parka, Alexander Wang Skull-print scarf, Yves Saint Laurent Arty gold-plated flower ring, Alexander Wang Robyn textured leather hobo bag, The Row Python-coated skinny pants, Ralph Lauren Black Label Cashmere cable-knit sweater, Coach Classics Small leather bag, Diane von Furstenberg Opal leather wedge sandal, Marc by Marc Jacobs Buckled leather ankle boots, Kain Oversized T-shirt, MiH Jeans Belted shearling gilet, Elizabeth and James Crawford metallic skirt.
