Payless has some really great wide calf boots this year. I saw a few options that were either flat, heeled, or wedged. I think that is great because it adds variety to a woman’s wardrobe. My favorite boot is the Tasha Tall Boot. It comes in cognac and black. It is a simple flat boot with a wide calf. It comes in regular sizes too, but I need the boot to be wide calf for it to fit. With the extended calf sizes that Payless has, these boots just might be the ones that I buy. Boot shoe sizes go up to a size 13 for women at Payless, and the calf sizes range from 16.4 inches to 19 inches. Measure the full circumference of your foot to see what you need. I am glad that Payless has a few options because this is something that the industry needs to work on. It used to be so hard to find wide calf boots. Then the few options that were available were too expensive. I’m glad Payless is here with variety and affordability.
Finding great fitting wide calf boots is hard. Very, very hard. Luckily for us gals with wide calves, there are a lot more options out there than years before. Stores like Eloquii, Avenue, Ashley Stewart, and Lane Bryant are giving us options to two step in. Literally! I have never seen so many options for wide calves every! Another thing that I like about all of these options is that a lot of these boots are now coming in wide calf, wide feet or extra wide calf, extra wide feet. I had a hard time finding wide calf boots that would fit my equally wide foot. The fact that companies are making that kind of option now is amazing!
I recently got some wide calf boots from DSW that actually fit my calf muscles. Color me surprised. When I see a boot labeled wide calf in the store, they don’t usually fit. I get really skeptical when I see the label on boots because of that. However… When I went to DSW there were a ton of boots to pick from. Some fit and some didn’t, but the ones I bought look fantastic.
I love a good wide calf over the knee boot. I have wide calves, so something cute that comes wide and over the knee is something I am always looking for when I go boot shopping. I still have a black pair from Torrid that I got years ago when I was in college. I found a pair that comes in Cognac and Black (both leather) from Nordstrom that is on sale right now! They were originally $99.95, but now they are $66.96! That is a steal you guys!!!! They come in sizes 6.5 to 11. Yes you read that correct. Nordstrom does a good job of carrying hard to find sizes.
Buy the Chinese Laundry ‘Spring Street’ Boot (Wide Calf) Womens now, because Nordstrom will probably sell out of this cute wide calf over the knee boot fast because a style like this in this many sizes is rare. Photos from Nordstrom.

As plus-size women, we struggle with a lot of ill-fitting clothing and accessories. Not to mention the struggle of finding wide calf boots during the fall and winter months. I am writing this post with compassion, because I too am affected by this problem. With boots being a fall fashion must-have, it is kind of hard to be without them. Below. I have written a few tips that will help you find wide calf boots as well as the best places to find these boots within your specific price range.
How to Find Wide-Calf Boots:
- When looking for boots that fit for wider calves, look for elastic material that is embedded in the shoe’s material. The elastic makes the boot fit perfectly around your calf. However, if you do not like elastic material, some stores and/or online retailers, like Payless, carry boots that are made specifically for wide calves. Payless, for example, labels the shoes “Extended Calf Wide” and they go up to a size 13 online! If you want to learn more about how to choose the correct calf size when shopping online, click here.
Boohoo has a pair of affordable over the knee boots that look similar to a certain Stuart Weitzman pair, but are on sale for much-much-much less! Did I say much less?! I have always wanted a pair of those boots because they go over the knee, are classic, and have an elastic panel in the back that can stretch over my big dancer calf muscles. The original pair costs way too much for me, but I think I can do these. You can get these cute, classic over the knee boots for $70. Also get 20% off the site right now with the code USA20. Lane Bryant’s Zip & Buckle Wide Calf Boot is the perfect plus size boot. I am so glad that companies are starting to make cuter wide calf boots because I have a wide calf. The struggle to find cute boots that fit is real, and it sucks. Luckily for me, Lane Bryant has some options. They have about five wide calf boots on their website right now and they are all priced at $79.95. Get you a piece. Photo from Lane Bryant.
Hey Everyone! Lovelyish, the lovely website that syndicates some of my blog posts, ask a few of their bloggers to do a Style Challenge, and I stepped up to the plate! For the first challenge they wanted me to style an outfit around my favorite fall boots. I am so glad they waited until October for this because it was 90 degrees less than 10 days ago, but it was getting pretty chilly today. I love this Steve Madden boots because they are very versatile, and wear them with jeans since they are wide enough for my big post dance calf muscles.
For this challenge I wore:
An Old Navy leopard print sweater
Walmart white t-shirt
Old Navy black tank top
Old Navy Diva jeans
Steve Madden ‘Intyce’ boots
